I don't want to pay for some nitwit's college debt he used to get his degree in black studies. He should pay as he promised to pay. Better yet, the college that granted the worthless degree should be forced to "co-sign" the debt and to pay for failing to deliver value. Can you imagine the difference in counseling a degree path when the college has some potential liability for granting a worthless degree?

The Ds can go after Cuomo because (a) PDJT is no longer in office; and (b) there's no risk in terms of power -- they control everything in NY -- they just replace him with a true blue Prog.
But, make no mistake, this shit wouldn't be coming out if it were October 2020. What Cuomo (and Whitmer) did wrt to Covid and nursing homes is an absolute and total failure of leadership that surpasses anything PDJT did re Covid. And they got a free pass. And DeSantis was the whipping boy.Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?

I'm not sure Modern Monetary Theory doesn't have real costs. While it is correct to argue that government can print money or increase the money supply by taking on more debt without having to "pay that back" in the traditional sense of the word, the cost is inflation that lessens the value of the dollar (the fiat currency). It is also correct to argue that the way to pay-back profligate fiscal and monetary policy based on MMT theory is to tax the shit out of everything. This is where Tom's point that sensible people will react in ways to this clarity that will stop it.
At that point, you are left with a pile of expensive debt, inflation and high interest rates. The inevitable default position is to reduce spending - the same kind of calculus that ultimately results from the application of any of the multiple economic theories out there. It's worth pointing out that I don't think Powell is pursuing a purely MMT based monetary policy. These are unique times that call for a shit-load of spending.Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. Without the Covid pandemic, Whitmer would be teetering on the edge like Newsome. Her biggest claim to fame up to that point was her demand for a 170% gas tax increase. She couldn't find even one legislator from her own party to carry that proposal to the floor. Once Covid is under control here, she's in trouble. She'll always have Detroit in her pocket, but the outstate has rose up before, and ousted "popular" Democrats. It can happen again.
I just wish the outstate would wake up and throw out Stupidnow and Peters."The stockings were hung by the chimney with care, .. I'd worn them for weeks, and they needed the air"

Cuomo’s actual failure on nursing homes, and I have said this before, is the coverup. Cuomo and the other northeastern Governors deserve at least something of a pass on making mistakes handling covid. NY got hit harder and earlier than nearly anywhere else. And no one knew how to treat it, how bad it really was, how soon a vaccine would come, and so on. And they weren’t getting a ton of good advice out of DC.
DeSantis, Ducey, Abbot, Kemp and the other governors who didn’t have much to worry about until June had the advantage of learning from others’ mistakes.

I can't speak for Abbot and Ducey but as far as Kemp and Desantis are concerned, both of them took the lead when it came to rejecting the non-sense of shuttering businesses. Kemp was less aggressive with public health policy but Desantis led the nation in actually protecting the vulnerable and recognizing that the COVID risk was in the over 70 population and the rest could pretty much carry on as usual. He was pilloried by liberal D's for that take. The WSJ article last week titled "Vindication for Desantis," laid out exactly why.
Why R governors should get props for their state's rejection of the shit dripping off Fauci's and the Redfiled's (CDC) lips isn't just about fucking up nursing homes. It's about this particular group of governors recognizing the actual COVID threat, targeting vulnerable populations and protecting them while keeping businesses from collapsing. They didn't learn from the mistakes of Cuomo, Newsome and Whitmer's ilk, they just said fuck off you idiots and they were absolutely right in doing so and leading the way in the process.Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. No, he deserves zero pass for the nursing home stuff. Everyone with a brain was screaming that it was a bad move.
And, I’m with Tom. The “something of a pass stuff” because he didn’t know how to treat it is pretty funny considering that the Democrats won an election because Trump didn’t know how to treat it at the same time."The problem with quotes on the Internet is that it is sometimes hard to verify their authenticity." -Abraham Lincoln

Absolutely correct.
Now, I'm ok if folks want to say it's not fair to compare death totals from early states to later states. Again, The Media didn't really care about that when going after PDJT. But, there's some sense to it. But that still, in no way, excuses forcing nursing homes to take Covid patients. Cuomo AND Whitmer have, to borrow the Prog rallying cry, blood on their hands.Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?
