  • But my favorite of the genre has to be Talent's hunting buddy, Larry Householder, babbling about the Swamp trying to bring him down. Larry don't know nothing bout no $80M bribes, y'hear?

Don't know if I ever told this story, but I was doing work at a courthouse out in eastern Ohio shortly after the Householder news broke and one of the courthouse employees was going on and on about seeing ol' Larry totally shitfaced at the Perry County fair the night before he was indicted.

                              • COVID fatigue abounds. I'm seeing multiple stories in the news where airports are busy and restaurants are open defying local orders to remain closed. Those are just two indicators of this among many others. I'm mostly tuning out COVID data. I know I'm not alone. I consider continuing to report it pretty much useless. Human behavior isn't going to change much more than it already has. Anecdotally, I'd say the rate of masking and distancing approaches 70%. Not terrible but few states/counties are not experiencing accelerating new infection growth rates and high numbers of daily new cases.

The only good news I can find is that CFR nationally remains low at 1.3%. There are other countries experiencing very high CFRs. Vaccine roll-outs remain painfully slow. In FL, PH officials reporting to the state legislature said that federal vaccine distribution by week is considerably less than what they are being told it will be. The impact is that newly opened and manned sites can't be fed enough vaccine and these sites have to close. Planning the opening of new vaccination sites becomes difficult under those circumstances. IOW, here in FL, the infrastructure is there but, allegedly, not enough vaccine is being provided by the federal distribution plan. OTH, manufacturers are reporting numbers produced exceed what the feds are distributing. I don't doubt that.

When a hospital system in S. FL announces a certain number of vaccine doses are available and a phone or web based sign up link provided, the available appointments are gone in minutes with call ins or hits on the web site reaching an instantaneous one thousand in number. The apparent disconnect between what manufacturers are saying they are providing to the feds and what is available to the states and then to sites administering the shots is troubling.

The Biden plan that he announced last night will, of course, rectify all those problems!
