  • Well, it's not clear she's violent. Her words were, but that whatever. It's her personal time and personal app. And there was, presumably, no indication she was any of these things while she worked at Deloitte.

Whatever. I don't think it's a good thing to fire people based on social media comments, but that's the game, now.

My social media stuff is completely purged. All I have is the 20,000 posts here. Heh. I'm hoping Deb deletes the forum before I have to go through and delete all my posts. Heh.

So I may just stop commenting on stuff other people consider life & death and I think is frivolous. Because when one side treats a subject with intense seriousness and the other mockingly, that just leads to these blowups and I'm tired of them. We'd probably all be better off.
Holy smokes. We were talking about gay and trans?

      • That video of her sobbing is absolutely fucking delicious. That is a quintessential adult child. Liberals go through their entire lives thinking that they can do whatever they want, whenever they want, with no consequences whatsoever. When they finally get one tiny push back, they go into meltdown. Awesome.

        • Let me preface this article by saying this: there's nothing inherently wrong with trade deficits. There nothing about this news that is automatically bad. I don't think the trade deficit is a measurement of America's "success". In fact, do you know when our trade deficits are always at their lowest? When we're in recession.

But Trump and Ultra-Protectionist lickspittle Peter Navarro do think it matters. And by their own measurement for success, they are doing a terrible job. The deficit is very close to becoming the widest it's been since Trump took office.

The United States recorded a trade deficit of 84.40 USD Billion in September of 2024. This page provides the latest reported value for - United States Balance of Trade - plus previous releases, historical high and low, short-term forecast and long-term prediction, economic calendar, survey consensus and news.

          • Trade deficits are a boogeyman. In return for cars, steel, microchips, and dishwashers, we give other countries pieces of paper with our Presidents printed on them. That seems like a fair trade to me.

Edit: There are winners and losers in this though and I don't fault the losers for not loving this arrangement. At the very least, there needs to be some sort of route to affluence for people who do not want to spend $100,000 on higher education.

Well, yes. If she had perhaps manned up, owned it and moved on she'd be a more sympathetic character. As it is, I feel dirty defending her.

But, I don't know how or why this is a story. Like, I don't know if she's promoting her firing or not or whatever. If this is a news group making this a story, then it's bullshit. It's shining a light on someone's personal experience and I'm not a fan.

It'd be in the same ballpark as what the WaPo did to one of their own who merely dressed up in blackface-Megyn Kelly to mock her. That apparently warranted a 3000 word story and a firing. Completely and entirely unnecessary.

              • She still has it easy compared to her counterparts on the right who have expressed politically incorrect views but have never actually threatened violence. Laura Loomer never threatened to stab or hurt anybody but she has been deplatformed from all of the major social media and her bank account even got shut down. If that dumb sow thinks that she has it rough, then she should put herself in Milo Yiannopolous's shoes -- he can't leave the house without an armed escort. Suffice it to say, my sympathy does not run deep.

Side note: the phrase "Harvard graduate" doesn't mean much anymore, does it"?

The next thing to worry about, then, is that the New World Order will assume anyone who intentionally deletes their social media content MUST have something to hide. Talent, you may have to prove you are not racist/sexist/homophobe. Good luck. Better join a union.

Incidentally, has anyone noticed how much of the disturbance in the country is owing, at least partially, to public-sector unionism? I'll slightly overstate it: Bad policemen cannot be fired. Bad teachers cannot be fired. Bad administrators at the federal level cannot be fired. Bad administrators at the state level mostly cannot be fired. Bad judges cannot be fired. What we have through society is union "protection" for the least competent among us. That is an operative definition of socialism/communism.

Better keep your 20,000 posts here, Talent. At least they prove some semblance of rationality except in matters involving OSU.

                  • China has pretty much irreversibly taken over Hong Kong at this point. Britain has offered citizenship to basically 3 million people.

The decision reflects a souring of the atmosphere in the UK-China relationship.

I know Congress is passing some sanction bills but has Trump really said much of anything about China tearing up the 1997 deal?

That video is just too ridiculous to be real. At some point, some body had to say some thing along the lines of "this is really stupid.."

                      • Florida set a record high in cases yesterday. Over 10,000. (Fauci talking about 100,000 cases a day doesn't sound so far-fetched anymore). But on the other hand, they did a ton of tests. But on the other other hand, the positive testing rate has been very consistent between 14-17% for a week. What's it all mean? Damned if I know.

Jeff, please explain. In detail if you would.

People are drawing a lot of attention to the fact that she's being prosecuted by the Public Corruption Unit, just like Epstein himself was going to be. They ordinarily would have nothing to do with a sex trafficking case but it's also possible they're handling it because it's so high profile.
