  • And not like it really matters a whole lot. Nationally, there are very few companies that will walk up to an employee and say “you’re fired for being gay.” Doing that opens up a ton of scrutiny, protests, bad PR, SJWs, nuisance lawsuits, etc, etc.

Outside of a Hobby Lobby type company possibly, I can’t imagine it’s a common thing.

Hobby Lobby, and Chick-fil-A, for that matter, have taken a lot of heat for statements made by their owners and founders based on their faith. To my knowledge, neither company has ever attempted to purge employees from their payroll based on their sexual orientation. In fact, Chick-fil-A has stated publicly that they employ LGBTQ people, and they enjoy the same rights and benefits as everyone else. Their sexual preferences are never asked, and its not a condition of continued employment if its found out.

The real un-American thing going on with both Chick-Fil-A and Hobby Lobby is the left's desire to put them out of business due to the Constitutionally protected rights of the owners to freedom of religion.

That is, by and large, correct.

          And so is that.

            • John Roberts. What a worthless judge he has turned out to be. Appointed by George W. so no surprise, I guess.

Its the same thing that happened to Bush Sr with Souter.

Souter was considered to be a conservative lean, and was even opposed by fat-cat Democrat Teddy Kennedy who made a self-righteous and pompous opposition speech about Souter during his confirmation hearings. Souter turned out to be one of the most leftist justices in history.

                    • That was the only legitimate reason to be excited about voting for Trump. If the guy wasn't getting anything done, at least he was appointing the right judges. So much for that idea.

After months and months of "review" the admin has claimed it still contains "classified" information that must be excised.

The Trump administration is expected to file a lawsuit seeking an injunction to block John Bolton's book from being released in its current form, sources say.

                        • Gorsuch is a fantastic justice. I think Kavanaugh will turn out fine, too. I also really like Roberts and, for that matter, Thomas. Alito is probably the conservative justice I like the least.

Kagan is a fantastic justice, too. Sotomayor is total trash. Ginsberg and Breyer are meh.

That said, I agree with Alito's dissent pretty much 100%.

Big difference (tonally) between Alito's dissent and Kavanaugh's. I get why Kav wanted to write his own.

                            • I also agree with Kav 100%.

I mean, look -- it's brazen legislating. Kav summarizes the issue pretty clearly in the "literal" technical meaning vs the "ordinary" meaning.

People will be fine with it because they like the outcome. But, again, make no mistake what's going on here -- the Court has removed this issue from the legislative process and will now spend years ruling on the Pandora's Box of issues they've opened. At this point, I'm not sure you can keep a dude identifying as a chick out of chick sports w/o running afoul of the Constitution.

                              • Oh this will complicate things. Just a couple days ago the Admin announced a rule change that would've removed Title VII protections for transgenders receiving medical service using the understanding of the word "sex" in the way Alito & Kavanaugh want it applied, not Gorsuch.
