I have a book, printed at the time, of the SF earthquake of '06, written by Chronicle reporters. The Nat'l Guard was called out to render assistance to survivors, put out fires, and prevent looting. In several documented instances, the Guard hanged looters in the doorway of the looted building as a warning to others. Today we give them stimulus checks?

In the different cities, what will the Guard do? Are they supposed to be law enforcement with arrest powers? Supposed to stand around and try to block the spread? Are they supposed to be in the visible distance as a warning? I hope it doesn't get ugly (uglier). Remember the Kent State lesson - don't throw rocks at people with guns.

There is no rational basis for the unlawful or violent actions of American citizens involved in ravaging cities nation wide. That our president inflames them with his comments on social media is one more page in the diary of his incompetence and lack of awareness of a threat to our national security..

I don't think there is any question that a good portion of the rioting is incited by provocateurs of many stripes and agendas. I wouldn't doubt that Chinese and Russian intelligence agents embedded here for years are also actively engaged in disinformation and potentially involved in some of the more egregious fire setting and looting....at least inciting it by taking advantage of the psychology of mob violence ......

Social psychology does offer relevant explanations for group or mob mentality and violence. When people are part of a group, they often experience deindividuation, or a loss of self-awareness. When people deindividuate, they are less likely to follow normal restraints and inhibitions and more likely to lose their sense of individual identity. Groups can generate a sense of emotional excitement, which can lead to the provocation of behaviors that a person would not typically engage in if alone. Think about the last sporting event or concert you attended. It’s unlikely that you would have been yelling or singing the way you were if you were the only person doing it! The group seems to make some behaviors acceptable that would not be acceptable otherwise.

Americans, by-in-large, are incredibly naive about how vulnerable we are to outsiders, anarchists and misfits conducting organized and unconventional forms of warfare directed at destroying our confidence in government and disrupting our social order. Our free press, as great as it is, is nothing but a megaphone for their evil objectives. The irrationality of all of this, its obvious disconnection from sensible protests of an unwarranted and unlawful police act, should make a lot more people understand and take note of what is obviously going on here.

I rarely defend anything PDJT tweets, but this bullshit. First, nothing he tweeted was particularly inflammatory. Second, you're implying a lack of responsibility on the part of these people. You're suggesting they're not responsible.
