Amazon has started their Black Friday sales and there are some great deals to be had! As you shop this holiday season, please consider using the forum's Amazon.com link (listed in the menu as "Amazon Link") to add items to your cart and purchase them. The forum gets a small commission from every item sold.

Additionally, the forum gets a "bounty" for various offers at Amazon.com. For instance, if you sign up for a 30 day free trial of Amazon Prime, the forum will earn $3. Same if you buy a Prime membership for someone else as a gift! Trying out or purchasing an Audible membership will earn the forum a few bucks. And creating an Amazon Business account will send a $15 commission our way.

If you have an Amazon Echo, you need a free trial of Amazon Music!! We will earn $3 and it's free to you!

Your personal information is completely private, I only get a list of items that were ordered/shipped via the link, no names or locations or anything. This does not cost you anything extra and it helps offset the operating costs of this forum, which include our hosting fees and the yearly registration and licensing fees.

Stay safe and well and thank you for your participation in the Forum and for your support!! --Deborah

  • The CDC advises to wear masks/face coverings in public:

There’s evidence that everyone should use masks in certain public settings. But there’s also a shortage of masks for health care workers.

          • They are horrible. And re: the lab thing. I have no trouble believing that they would try to refine and stockpile the virus they have been isolating from bats and that the damn thing was spread by some careless lab worker drunk off mijiu. Hell, they have been working on biologic weapons for 70 years.

Besides their coronavirus fuckery, their fuckery with Tibet, Hong Kong, Taiwan, the South China Sea being annexed and rattling their sabers if you dare sail through international waters, stealing IP, horrible civil rights issues, and a host of other things...they are the worst. They are the next Germany circa 1939. Unchecked, they just get worse. And will continue to do so.

This meme explains why that is necessary:

                • That said, there are a number of holes in the order. Not sure it accomplishes that much. But you gotta try.

                    • China is not 1939 Germany. The Nazis were run by morons with delusions of grandeur. Their whole schtick was all short term gain that had no chance at long term success. The Nazis will be history's bogeyman for a long time and for good reason but they weren't built to last. I have read a lot on that period of history and never read anything explaining how they thought they were going to be able to continue to occupying those countries indefinitely.

The Chinese are much more formidable foe and we'll be dealing with them for a long time. The biggest problem is always going to be that the US(and the rest of the world) get sizable benefits from trade with them. You can make a theoretical argument that we have power over them because of this, but so far that hasn't revealed itself in any sort of unified strategy.

                          • The Nazis couldn't follow it incrementally because they were morons. Their whole schtick was built on a militaristic house of cards. They got high on their own supply.

                            • Germany was more powerful and formidable than China. China is a long-term problem, but one that can pretty well addressed. They are still a fucking god-awful regime that deserves every last ounce of contempt the free world can muster.
