We don't have leverage with China for a couple of reasons: 1) They have a whole bunch of the US debt, 2) They make a lot of stuff that Americans use.
There is not a whole lot that you can do about the first part. China is free to buy whatever debt they want to with their own money. On the second point to get American manufacturing back to making stuff (and expanding it) is going to take at least a decade and maybe more.
Even using our big stick (the military) is of limited value here, because of their sheer numbers would help blunt the tactical advantage that we have over them.
DeSantis not shutting down the beaches was really, really stupid on his part. That stay in place order was really really late in coming.
2012 Detroit Lions Draft: 1) Cordy Glenn G , 2) Brandon Taylor S, 3) Sean Spence olb, 4) Joe Adams WR/KR, 5) Matt McCants OT, 7a) B.J. Coleman QB 7b) Kewshan Martin WR
And how long do you think the American consumer, who has been trained to want the lowest price no matter what, would be willing to tolerate not getting the cheap from China?
Numbers certainly do matter. Air power can only do so much if there was a serious hot war (assuming no nukes are used of course) eventually you have to put boots on the ground. Terrain can really cut down on the technological edge that the US does have.

Veterans' home in Holyoke, Massachusetts the site of a brewing coverup and scandal...as far as the Mayor and the state knew, only one person in the home was infected with COVID-19. In fact, it's looking like 11 people have died from it, another dozen or so are infected, and at least 5 staff members have caught it as well.
This is what I hate: the unrealistic bitching. David Chang a famous chef/restauranteur in Los Angeles complained that to keep his restaurant open, he needed the following:
As dining rooms around the country shuttered in response to the pandemic, restaurants turned to delivery and takeout — but now, some chefs are saying it’s not worth it
"The problem with quotes on the Internet is that it is sometimes hard to verify their authenticity." -Abraham Lincoln
Brit Hume pushing hard the notion that if you have asthma, catch COVID-19, and then die, you died from your underlying condition of asthma and shouldn't be counted towards COVID-19 death totals. Only perfectly healthy people who catch COVID-19 and then die truly died from it. Jesus.
I really really don't get why so many rightwing folks are pushing arguments like this and insisting fear of COVID-19 is way overhyped.
Sad local story. Grove City woman has lost her brother and both parents since Sunday. Her husband is now on a ventilator. They all appear to have gotten sick after a family get-together the first weekend of March.
Right wingers are threatening Dr Fauci? WTF? You're one of the few people with his head wrapped around the corona virus and if you don't 'kiss the ring' you get death threats?
