  • This is from an Atlantic article basically saying Bernie can't win. It has to do with Rogan's endorsement:

Many Democrats would find the above opinion, and the people who would uphold or express it, abhorrent.
"Opinion" really cracks me the fuck up.

    • Go ahead Ds, nominate Bernie. Trump will wipe the floor with him. Now, admittedly, I probably have a bias from hanging around here and reading an abundance of reasonable takes on US politics and the 2020 election.
Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

I wouldn't be so sure of that. Like I said a couple days ago, there's more crossover in their populist elements than people want to admit.

I still think Biden's the best option the Dems have but I also think Bernie is #2. He will definitely NOT appeal to the suburban voters that made Virginia & Colorado turn blue. But he will have a certain "fuck everything, blow it all up" appeal to the down-and-outers in the Rust Belt that voted Trump in 2016 but feel he hasn't done enough to rock the Establishment, as it were.

No one has really gone after that Marxist asswipe. I can't even imagine how much crazy shit he's said. Fuck, man, he joined a party in 1979 that took sides with the Iranians over the US in the hostage crisis. He has a long, long, long history of literally hating the United States. That line is almost always R caricature -- the ol' patriotism angle. But, fuck, man, with Bernie it's 100% TRUE.

I'll probably abstain if they nominate Warren. I'll actually consider voting for PDJT if they nominate Bernie. I'll vote for any other D.

          • I will say that upside of Bernie winning is that he's incompetent. He'll accomplish nothing. He'll issue a bunch of EOs (for which he should probably be impeached for gross abuse of power, since that's a thing, now), and those EOs will get pimp-smacked.

And in 2022 the Rs will run rampant. But, that's the upside. It's not all that comforting.

I always knew that Bernie was the one dude that I found to be comparable to PDJT in terms of just how much I detest them personally. I didn't think the Ds would nominate him. There's still hope, i guess.

We'll see how the campaigns go from here but I saw it noted just yesterday that Bernie's campaign in Iowa (at least) was quite different than in 2016. A lot less broad 'revolution' talk this time; heavy focus on healthcare and how "it costs too damn much."

Healthcare is probably the one issue where even a lot of people who go on lengthy rants about socialism will listen favorably to ideas on the govt intervening to bring costs down. Hell, Trump has been trying to do that very thing and knows he's vulnerable on that issue more than any other.

              • I see you're already making your peace with the Marxist. You go, Bernie Bro!

(And if you think Bernie can limit his Marxist past to "good Marxism" then, welp, we really, really, really disagree)

                • It'll also be interesting to see turnout in Iowa. I'm going to guess it's closer to 2016 levels than 2008. So, Bernie may be winning amongst the "D"s in that state, but it'll be interesting to see how many people are interested in the "D" caucus.

I mean, if the election were tomorrow, PDJT wins Iowa in a walk.

                  • I think Bernie's Marxism will achieve nothing once in power like you just said. Same thing I was saying in 2016. He'll issue EO's, every one of them will be challenged in court, and he'll consistently lose. And even if the Dems keep Congress they will not pass "Seize the means of production" type laws.

Just like how the guardrails have stayed (mostly) in place to not allow Trump to indulge his worst instincts either. Although for him all bets are off in a 2nd term.

Thanks to the impeachment process I also now know that Hamilton, Madison, and Da Boys felt one of the very worst abuses a President could commit is to solicit foreign help to win an election

Oh and based on what I've seen they've already acknowledged turnout is way below 2008 and matches the 2016 levels

Everything I've seen suggests it was not vetted or tested in any significant way.

And the company that produced it is called "Shadow Inc.", which is just about perfect for conspiracy theories

EDIT: Iowa Dem Chairman out with a statement that casts some doubt that we'll even get results today, saying the integrity of the data more important than speed.

                              • If they didn't test it thoroughly then that was a disaster waiting to happen. That is the case for any sort of app, testing is hard. Testing an app like that is going to be pretty expensive, you would need to have new people testing it every time and you would want them to replicate the caucus format as much as possible. Just because you could put it on a phone doesn't mean you should.
