More from the Parnas files have been released and it's now clear Victoria Toensing, half of the husband/wife slezaball lawyer duo, is neck deep in the effort to get Marie Yovanovitch fired. Toensing works for Firtash, the exiled and fugitive Ukrainian oligarch and mob figure.

This is really interesting to geography nerds like myself. These maps show where each of the 4 leading Dems have held campaign events in Iowa since the start of last Sept. Notice how Bernie and Warren are spending much more time in the eastern half of the state. Buttigieg and Biden have spread their events out far more evenly.
For those who don't know Iowa's politics, I-35 pretty much splits the state in half through Des Moines. The western half is more conservative and has fewer major cities. The eastern half is where Iowa's relatively small minority population mostly lives and contains the majority of the liberals. Warren and Sanders have been pretty much ignoring the western half, except to visit the Omaha metro area basically.

Parnas also claims that Rudy had him tell Ukraine presidential advisor Sergey Shaffer that if they didn't announce an investigation of Biden, Pence wouldn't come to Zelensky's inauguration. Shaffer brushed him off. The next day, Pence's trip was cancelled.
EDIT: At the same time Parnas dismisses Hyde's claims to have had had Yovanovitch under surveillance, saying every time he ever met Hyde the man was drunk.Last edited by Dr. Strangelove; January 15, 2020, 09:47 PM.

Really looking forward to getting this vote done with and moving on. I doubt it will stop the breathless reporting from The Resistance, but one can slightly hope.Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?

Oh stuff will continue to come out anyways...which is why it's dumb for the Republicans to try and block anything new at the "trial"
I mean, Bolton's book is reportedly coming out before both Conventions and it's expected to address the Ukraine stuff. Which made me question...how can he be blocked from testifying via executive privilege yet still write a book about the same thing? Because it's easier to assert the book is a lie versus sworn testimony?

In any event, the House conducted an exhaustive, thorough investigation. The House concluded that PDJT should be removed from office (and that's exactly what they were voting on, not some half-assed legally illiterate indictment analogy). Now we find out if the Senate agrees with the conclusions of the House.
Either that, or that House ran a half-assed RUSHED investigation for entirely partisan purposes and voted as such. They could have waited for the courts to rule on privilege challenges (the Clintons made basically every privilege challenge ever). Instead of letting the legal process run its course -- in a government of checks and balances -- they instead rushed to get it done AND threw in an utterly laughable "obstruction of congress" article.
Fuck them. Stand by your work.

BTW, anything Robert Hyde says should be doubted. Total nutjob. Possible alchoholic. Stalking charges, unpaid child support, wild threats. Last year he was arrested outside Trump Doral while making wild claims that landscapers were spying on him and trying to do him harm. He spent 10 days involuntarily in a mental institution after that.
But he's also an example of how easily the crazies and wackjobs can embed themselves in Trumpworld (if you have money). How many more people like this come into punching distance of Trump on a regular basis? They say nothing but it must drive the Secret Service nuts.

Parnas ain't particularly credible, either.
Perhaps, if the House wasn't rushing to get this investigation done at warp speed, they might have time to question him.Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?
