BTW, it's doesn't appear legal for Trump to name an acting Secretary of DHS under the FVRA like with other Departments (DHS having unique language that created it. Statue says the Undersecretary for Management automatically becomes Acting Secretary.

Wholesale purge of DHS leadership has begun. Nielsen out. Head of the Secret Service out. Withdrew their nominee for the head of ICE because Stephen Miller felt he wasn't 'hardline' enough. Will probably have to fire the Deputy DHS Secretary shortly because she'd automatically become Acting Secretary if he doesn't.

Miller appears to be pulling a lot of strings behind the scenes with Trump's blessing.

EDIT: CNN reported earlier today that Miller wants to fire the head of USCIS and the DHS general counsel as well.

Also note that people at the Secret Service are learning Alles has been fired from CNN and not the White House.

Trump and Miller reportedly wanted Nielsen to simply ignore the asylum laws and toss people back into Mexico without regard to current process. She wouldn't just ignore the law and now she's fired.

They will look for a lickspittle and keep them in an "Acting" capacity for as long as possible to avoid Senate confirmation. Kobach would be perfect. Incredibly stupid and unlikeable; a political failure, who would owe everything he has to Trump. He's been repeatedly humiliated in public too and doesn't mind it so much.

So the Chinese National who was arrested for sneaking into Mar a Lago had 4 cell phones, 9 usb drives, 5 sim cards, $7500 in cash in $100 bils, and a device to detect hidden cameras. Oh and at least one of her devices had malware on it that nearly infected the Secret Service computers when they tried to examine it.

2 weeks ago a ranting & raving Trump ordered Nielsen and Pompeo to close part of the Mexican border, beginning with El Paso, within 24 hours. He backed down the next day but only in part because enough people told him it would significantly hurt the Texas economy.

Trump told border agents to simply ignore the law. If people showed up at ports of entry and claimed asylum, simply send them back where they came from. Nielsen and the White House counsel assured Trump this would in fact be illegal and any border agent caught doing that would be personally liable.

After the President left the room, agents sought further advice from their leaders, who told them they were not giving them that direction and if they did what the President said they would take on personal liability. You have to follow the law, they were told.
