Exactly. And if you were to plot her win on a graph of presidential outcomes you'd see a massive trend to the Ds that isn't about to stop in order to elect Donald Fucking Trump. Virginia was also where the Rs got slaughtered in the house, losing 3 seats in 2018 to go from 6-5 to 3-8.Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?
Brady Hoke: You know.....not....good.

would that outcome been the same if the top the dem officials in the state had their problem surfaced last year? Northam still has 50% support from dems but nothing turns off independents faster. they still need independents to win that state.

As of today, I actually think he's going to get 220 or 249 (not sure re Florida and I also think he'll lose Arizona in addition to Big 10 states) assuming no elector defections. I guess the two districts in Maine and Nebraska could go either way, too. But it's pretty hard to guess without knowing who the Ds are going to run and what PDJT will do in the next two years.
No one in their right mind would have him at 100.Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?
Brady Hoke: You know.....not....good.

texas and Georgia would be the two I'd wonder about
those two senate races last year certainly don't guarantee any trump automatics.
I would hope better economic news would sway a state like Minnesota or Illinois to flip --Illinois just seems like an island in the middle of trump country

When the news media was saying that Trump had to thread an electoral needle in order to get to 270, they were right. I doubt if he could do it again. His only chance is if the Dems nominate a Socialist. Notice how Trump framed the 2020 debate in terms of capitalism v socialism. That will be a lot more effective than anything relating to border security.
And, Kapture, I agree with Talent. Virginia is gone from the R fold. I figure that if the Dems had had a decent candidate in 2016, they would have won that state by 15 points. Washington DC has gone from a sleepy southern city that couldn't support a major league baseball team to the wealthiest city in the US. As the swamp expands, Virginia becomes more solidly blue.
What is the deal with the blackface stuff in the 1080s? I've never heard of it on campus, and the only time I've seen it is in a "minstrel show".
In order to start a conversation, what do you fellows think of an idea of actually splitting the country into red zones and blue zones and letting one have a capitalistic economy and the other socialist economy? I am aware that it could never happen, so we don't need to go into that at length, but what if, as an example, the SC held that matters of social policy were best left to the states. If CA wants Medicaid for All, so be it. If NY or VA wants to allow babies to be killed outside the womb, again, so be it. What if the federal government were to cut staffing and expenses drastically in order to allow states to tax their citizens more if they want to? Would the "pursuit of happiness" be enhanced in such a situation?

Oh, and let's see if Vanessa Tyson is treated by the Democrats the same way as Ballsy Ford was treated. Women don't lie about such things, you know. Now, it should be up to Fairfax or Fairfield or whatever his name is to prove his innocence. Will the Rs hold onto the "presumption of innocence" meme?

Virginia is gone. The path to victory for a Republican is incredibly narrow now. Texas was three points away from being gone this last cycle, and that was with a solid, albeit unlikeable, incumbent in place. Texas will be gone soon and then so is the Presidency. For good.
