  • I have a lot more faith in RT than AOC. AOC is one of those unqualified people that break through when the system cannot produce candidates people want, so she's a wildcard at best. But RT termed out of the MI state leg, and is plenty qualified to handle the complexity of the job. She didn't come from nowhere. We on the left loved seeing our establishment politicians clutch their pearls yesterday just like Trumpers loved it when Trump attacked the GOP during the campaign. I tweeted my rep yesterday and told him to stop dithering over word choices and get on with impeaching that motherfucker if he wanted my vote in 2020, and that was the most fun I've had on twitter in quite a while. I'm sure of course that will go ignored, but RT will give us more of these opportunities very soon, becuase she has fuck-you DNA, and maybe some Ds will start to clue in.

    • Pretty much above.

AOC is just galvanizing. She has charisma and resonates with the young and farther left. She could easily flame out or make a stupid mistake that she can't tweet out of.

RT crosshairs are a joke. There has been nothing great about the rhetoric of 2016/2017/2018. All discourse is basically void of civility (shit word), but more importantly charitability.

Pretty much any Trump supporter advocates the continual onslaught/undermining/hamstringing of Mueller -- a guy who everyone understands can basically say nothing. That alone indicates how far we are from an acceptable depth of shit -- also doesn't even address the fountain of gimmies from Trump himself. Try using any range of Trump rhetoric in day to day conversation. Call a dude's wife a dog. I'd opt for motherfucker, to be honest.

RT says motherfucker and suddenly the threshold has been reached. Give me a break. The threshold was crossed so long ago, why is the charade of victimhood simultaneously the primary indictment of the left and the first rock to hide behind for the right.

Trump lives on the socially irreverent edge -- where the sensitive are paralyzed -- but is a victim of conspiratorial law -- or maybe just law -- where crooks are paralyzed. Not a comfortable dichotomy, but clearly an insight that will become more painful to him and those who relish in tran/fem memes, but can't figure out why such a good guy like Mueller is plastering fake charges on the great white hope.

      • What should be understood, though, is that things aren't going to continue as is. The FT this weekend -- the paper of record for the Davos set -- basically wrote Milton Friedman's obit. And then went on to suggest a whole bunch of make-corporations-reasonable-again solutions that are a heck of a lot more complicated, untried and fraught than the simple suggestion of AOC -- tax the rich. Say what you will about her, or dither about the percentage she tossed out, but the simple and robust solution is to tax the rich. There's a whole lot of bad ideas out there for the capitalist reformation, ranging from shifting the responsibility to governance to the private sector to outright actual/real socialism, with central command economies. We should try the good/simple/tested ideas now, and fast, before the stuff mostly all of us here agree is dumb.

        • I'd rather have those two than a guy like Steve King. Donald Trump is implemeting King's xenophobic agenda. Every objectionable thing King said was met with crickets by the GOP.

              • It's gonna really suck to have people with values in charge.

                • LOL. AOC scares the shit out of the far right. They have been trying to demonize her (see Hannibal's post) and will continue to do so, it is the MO, but she holds her own and they hate it.

The times, they are a changing.

                  Ha!
I feel like I am watching the destruction of our democracy while my neighbors and friends cheer it on

                        • the left thinks the right is going out of their way to singleout AOC, when in reality it was the media that propelled her up to the thought leader of the democrat party. i mean she's on 60 Minutes week as a prime example. and we don't hate her because she's a young woman, we hate her because she's a dirty fucking communist, and it is the media that share her viewpoint, which is why they are the enemy of the people. they will point to a video of her dancing on a rooftop and say "look at this hip, young congresswoman, isn't she so great and fun?!" meanwhile she is proposing a 70% federal tax to reverse climate change. except it wont, but it will completely wreck our economy and the world economy in turn.

Someone counted the number of times Ben Shapiro had posted about AOC on Twitter and it was like 27 times since Thursday. That's obsession

Here's some clowns on the NRA network (one of whom is a twice-failed congressional candidate) talking about how they'd date AOC a couple times (in other words, fuck her) but never marry her
