Not really. It's quite different in many ways, not the least of which is that John Kerry made his Vietnam service his lone campaign issue while he and his campaign surrogates played up the "chicken hawk" argument vis-a-vis Bush because he was only in the National Guard. If you're looking for a more apt comparison, I would say that Bush's forged AWOL 60 Minutes documents is more fitting. The Republicans (e.g. Bush, McCain) threw the Swift Boat Vets under the bus too because they didn't want to be divisive meanyheads. That's another huge difference that you will notice consistently as you spend more time on this side of the aisle.

I don't think that they are comparable in terms of being a valid character check. There were a lot of circumstances to the Swift Boat Vets that are not present with Kavanaugh. I personally didn't give a shit how Kerry got his Purple Heart, but his transformation from "Brave Congressional War Crimes Testifier" to "War Hero My Band of Brothers Loves Me" was repugnant to me, and if the Swift Boat Vets account for that 3% vote that made the difference, then it's justice in my eyes..Last edited by Hannibal; September 25, 2018, 08:52 PM.

Big Finance is not a free market by any stretch, so you can't say that MasterCard refusing to allow payments to Conservatives is the free market at work.
Good fucking god. Please try and prove it. Do better than ``government created the financial crisis through a lending incentive programme that accounted for 11% of bad loans in the system."
