Except it wasn't a campaign finance crime

from the article they cite the FEC on campaign contributions

unless it is a personal expense.

So, say I want to look snappy in the debate, for the sole purpose of influencing the election, so I purchase or the company that I own purchases for me a 6,000 suit... is that a campaign expense or a personal expense? Same thing as, say, getting liposuction.

Falls under a personal expense, not subject to the rules of the FEC for contribution limits.

You spend campaign dollars on that shit and this is what catches people in fraud charges.

They managed to get the entire premise wrong, and remind everyone that 0bama had almost 2,000,000 in illegal and unreported campaign donations lol

Cohen raised $130,000 by lying to a bank on a loan application, then used that money to pay off Stormy Daniels. How is that a "personal expense"?

first off it doesn't matter if Cohen took a loan or used money from his savings, or sold stock, or cashed in a IRA for the transaction, or borrowed it from a life insurance policy. He's in trouble for lying to the bank, but not for obtaining a loan for this purpose. As long as it was not out of a campaign account, thats #1

#2. It was for an NDA for an event that occured in the candidate's personal life before the campaign started. The question then becomes would the candidate have used a payoff and NDA even if he wasnt running for office. In Trump's case that's an obvious one. Wanna bet he's paid off other women in the past? He was a public figure that had a brand to protect, wanna bet he's ever used an NDA and an payoff before becoming a candidate? and for any reason, not just sex. For vendors he's pissed off. For an employment lawsuit from a disgruntled former employee. How much would you be willing to bet? Has Trump ever made a payoff and NDA to maintain his image.

and finally, #3 why is the SDNY not filing charges against President Trump? Why were there no charges filed today? Because President Trump is in no legal trouble over the payments. The SDNY knows it wont hold up. He's in political trouble, as the Dems will use this for the basis of impeachement, but there is no legal liability here for Trump.

that is the purpose, that is why Lanny Davis, a long time Clinton guy, wanted those charges in the plea agreement. This is about impeaching a president of the United States. Has always been about impeachment. That is the reason for Mueller.

                  • Trump today bragged about the current bull market streak. Says it's a record.

He's correct. What he's not saying is that the current streak started in 2009. He's hoping his supporters will just assume it began with his election.

                          • The Wall Street Journal reported late last night that the National Enquirer Publisher that was helping Trump catch and kill negative stories, David Pecker, has flipped on him and is telling prosecutors that Trump knew about all the hush money payments in advance. This might explain Trump's 1:10 AM screaming "NO COLLUSION WITCH HUNT!" in the middle of the night

American Media Chairman and CEO David Pecker is cooperating with federal prosecutors investigating Michael Cohen's payments to women alleging affairs with President Donald Trump. According to The Wall Street Journal, Pecker has knowledge of what Trump knew and when he knew it and he's giving that in...

                            • Big question is when will Chump pardon Manafort, certainly to be used as a "change the media subject" action. Looks like it will be a real challenge not to play that card until after the midterms.
