Jeff, I think some were actually sedated and dragged out like a sack of potatoes. It makes sense. Water rescues with non swimmers are incredibly dangerous. Being under water with no visibility in a cave for that long and people lose their shit. Hell, I have seen it in a simple lake rescue. ........ Just wondering. If I wanted a kid to stay focused, Ritalin (methylphenidate) or Focalin (dexmethylphenidate) would be a good choice. I've seen these prescribed together with a low dose of an anxyolitic in teens (I'd never do that - not in my area of knowledge). Supposedly, they have different biologic targets so one doesn't cancel out the effects of the other. i.e., you get relaxation with a nice meth high or the jittery response from typical ADD meds can be lessened with an anxyolytic. I'd think a pretty narrow group of patients would experience these benefits though.Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

I read an article that said some were completely sedated. Two divers per boy one lead and pulled, one trailed and attended to equipment.
I would be much more worried about the seal with a fully conscious child underwater in a dark cave."The problem with quotes on the Internet is that it is sometimes hard to verify their authenticity." -Abraham Lincoln

Yeah, there are no ideal solutions. You do a risk-benefit decision tree and hope for the best. Luckily, the best is what they got. If not for the dead diver this worked out as well as anyone could ask for."The problem with quotes on the Internet is that it is sometimes hard to verify their authenticity." -Abraham Lincoln

Exactly. All search and rescue involves risk management. You can never eliminate the risk, but you can do things to mitigate it. Eventually you have to make a go/no go decision.
It looks to me as if they handled this as well as it could possibly be handled.I feel like I am watching the destruction of our democracy while my neighbors and friends cheer it on
