Annapolis ....... I think we saw a shooting there this week that supports the contention of the reasonable that these things are going to happen regularly and there is not a whole lot that can be done about them. "Thoughts and Prayers" are nice but they don't do shit so, I tire of that line and the news media's preoccupation with these story lines. The other story that I simply can't abide by anymore is that there were signs that the shooter displayed (Ramos had a ton of them) and authorities failed to connect the dots. Unless we want a true police state, and we should fear that outcome in light of the ridiculous positions of some on the matters of gun violence, the shootings will continue.

I watched a very graphic show yesterday that recounted the Charlie Hebdo attack in Paris in 2015. Now these guys, unlike Ramos in Annapolis, were home grown, French, Islamic terrorists. But I don't think it makes much difference. Shooters might be motivated by this or that but fundamentally, they are shooters on a mission. You're not going to stop them from that mission although you can limit the damage per event.

I did not know about the extent of the Hebdo attack that involved shootings beyond just the Charlie Hedo offices where 12 people were murdered. There were two other separate attacks in and around Paris within 72h that killed another 5 people. There were only 3 terrorists involved and all the attacks were coordinated by these three. All three of the terrorist were hunted down and killed by French military and police. So, revenge? Sure. The likelihood that more shootings will occur in France? Not reduced at all.
