  • DC Judge denies Manafort's motion to dismiss all charges under the argument that Mueller lacked authority. This is NOT the same judge that was lecturing Mueller's team; that was the case in Northern Virginia.

Jackson disagreed, writing that Rosenstein had the authority "to define the Special Counsel?s charter broadly." She said that Mueller didn't write his own job description ? he inherited a preexisting investigation into Manafort ? and noted that Rosenstein said in sworn congressional testimony that he discussed the scope of the investigation when Mueller was appointed and confirmed in an August memo that Mueller was authorized to investigate Manafort's pre-campaign business activities.

"So even in the unlikely event that the Acting Attorney General and the Special Counsel never discussed what the investigation included at the time of the appointment, the singular event that defendant insists would be necessary to make his indictment valid ? an explicit referral of the specific matter to the Special Counsel ? has taken place," the judge wrote.

A spokesperson for the special counsel's office declined to comment. A spokesperson for Manafort did not immediately respond.

      • Terrific news. Tony Perkins, head of the Family Research Council, has been appointed to the US Commission on International Religious Freedom. His many valiant fights for freedom include:

        * Demanding no gays be allowed to openly serve in the military because their presence would devastate the religious freedom of military chaplains

        * Also said that God will punish us for allowing gays into the military by simply killing more soldiers as punishment. Those defending gays will have blood on their hands

        * Warning the country that God sends hurricanes to punish us for allowing gay marriage

        * Defended Uganda's "Kill the Gays" Bill

The president of the Family Research Council had claimed in a tweet that Uganda is a "modern example of a nation prospered by God," and he's not taking that back.

Religious freedom has never been in more capable hands.

I dint think so, but the left doesn't seem to mind the homophobia, misogyny, bigotry, or intolerance in the Muslim faith and culture.

And the supervisor of this staff is the former dean of DeVry University (and one of the investigations was DeVry University).

The right are all child molesting, puppy torturing, members of the Nazi Party who frequently engage in necrophilian bestiality on church altars to conclude an evening of random murder of women and children.

Just figured I'd make an equally broad and equally accurate characterization of the 'right' as Kapture is fond of doing for the 'left'. Dare to challenge me with facts or present me with the truth and I'll post an idiotic meme.

Let?s be honest and crush/kill every Palestinian. At least until they accept that Israelis were given thier [sic] land and will capitulate.
I'm actually fairly certain that Kapture's caricature isn't a caricature when it comes to SLF.

His second response is just whataboutism. Yeah, muslims suck when it comes to how they treat gay folks. So does Russia. So does the vast majority of Africa. So do a lot of other countries. Few are good as the US. But that doesn't make Tony Perkins less detestable.

speaking of this, one of the other countries that is also good with gay rights is Israel. The only country in the middle east that has any democracy in it, where Jews and Christians and Muslims can live and pray freely (except the Temple Mount, the holiest site in Jewish history, Israel gave control of it to the Muslims and now Jews are barred from praying there... ) but the right that support Israel are the Nazis, not the left that want to see the Jewish State destroyed.

...but still manages to devastate Great Plains shitholes like, say, Nebraska.
