Please support the Forum by using the Amazon Link this Holiday Season
Amazon has started their Black Friday sales and there are some great deals to be had! As you shop this holiday season, please consider using the forum's Amazon.com link (listed in the menu as "Amazon Link") to add items to your cart and purchase them. The forum gets a small commission from every item sold.
Additionally, the forum gets a "bounty" for various offers at Amazon.com. For instance, if you sign up for a 30 day free trial of Amazon Prime, the forum will earn $3. Same if you buy a Prime membership for someone else as a gift! Trying out or purchasing an Audible membership will earn the forum a few bucks. And creating an Amazon Business account will send a $15 commission our way.
If you have an Amazon Echo, you need a free trial of Amazon Music!! We will earn $3 and it's free to you!
Your personal information is completely private, I only get a list of items that were ordered/shipped via the link, no names or locations or anything. This does not cost you anything extra and it helps offset the operating costs of this forum, which include our hosting fees and the yearly registration and licensing fees.
Stay safe and well and thank you for your participation in the Forum and for your support!! --Deborah

In the larger geopolitical space, a known pro-Israel country recognizing Jerusalem as the capital because, you know, it is has to be weighed against Saudi interests (and others) in the behemoth Shia power sitting across the gulf. My guess is that the Saudis still care way more about Iran then some symbolic stuff. Dem boys in Tehran ain't symbolic.
But there will be no direct war between Iran (or Hiz b'Allah in Lebanon) and either Saudi Arabia or Israel. The Vlad and Donald brothers will see to that. The biggest problem the US faces is in keeping the Saudis completely in our orbit, as there has been distancing with Turkey and Qatar.Last edited by Ed Balzer; December 7, 2017, 11:41 AM.Whatever...

Who else are the Saudis going to turn to? It's hard to imagine.
IMO the bigger question for the US is which horse to back in the region. Saudi is a dead end and the rationale for the relationship in the first place is gone. Iran could be a real country one day, with regular people and a regular and diversified economy and a set of geopolitical interests that aren't so narrow or defined by its basic internal tension. I don't think we should formally walk away from the Saudis, but they aren't our friends, never have been, and pretending such makes other US policy goals more difficult.

Hamas was the biggest impediment to peace in the 1990s. Once the possibility of it was destroyed, Israel started sharing that burden.
So, you're Mr. Geopolitical -- what's your sense on Palestine accepting a deal comparable to the one Clinton brokered? Is that still a dead letter? I honestly have no clue other than assuming they wouldn't be keen to acquiesce re EJ.Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?
Brady Hoke: You know.....not....good.
