    • Of course Moore is going to win, his behavior in malls is a draw for the die hard GOP voter, just like the Access Hollywood tape. he will gain votes from this.

"We win, they lose." was the Reagan Doctrine

However, it is utterly irrelevant to what you were proposing, which you called "a new Fairness Doctrine or something".

What you said was One thing they might want to focus on is a long-term strategy to handle Breitbarts and Sinclair Broadcastings and that type. A new Fairness Doctrine or something. It would be criminal to allow any more of the broadcast spectrum in the hands of Sinclair. The broadcast spectrum is a public good.

I've heard figures from 3-5% of the total package of media in the US is what one would call primarily conservative. For example, Fox News splits 52-48% liberal. Your desire to stamp out or censor the tiny fraction of media that you disagree with is evidence that progressives/socialists cannot stand in the light of day and rationally make their own case. And that is because my side of the argument will always point to history and say, "What you propose has been tried repeatedly throughout history and has never succeeded."

Exactly what you propose has been tried in Venezuela, a country of vast oil reserves. What do you see there? I see the inevitable result of taking from the producers and giving to the non-producers in exchange for the non-producer vote.
OK but you said nothing about a Fairness Doctrine leading to Marxism in OTHER countries. But if we accept that logic, when the US had a Fairness Doctrine the USSR bankrupted itself. For most of the time the US has NOT had a Fairness Doctrine, post-Soviet Russia has been gaining strength. So OBVIOUSLY we need to bring back the Fairness Doctrine just for the foreign policy benefits.

All that clear nonsense aside, this is even bigger nonsense:

I've heard figures from 3-5% of the total package of media in the US is what one would call primarily conservative. For example, Fox News splits 52-48% liberal.

All that's a value judgment, and the number would change based on the values of the person doing the calculation. So as a statistic it's not really anything relevant to a national policy issue. What I'm talking about is being factual. If what you send over the airwaves isn't fact-based, or if you make no effort to correct the errors you've broadcasted, as Fox does and as Sinclair fail to, you shouldn't have access to the broadcast spectrum. That's pretty simple. And, obviously, it's been US law before. It's within the range of normal policy options.

            • Kapture,

Being inactive on Alabama voter rolls means nothing. Many people were put on the list who have voted and it is not the same as being struck from the list; you should be able to still vote. http://www.al.com/news/index.ssf/201..._vote_ala.html

What's the latest on Moore? That he put "D.A." behind his name before he was actually DA? Is that the exculpatory proof?

                • I have no idea if he is an official pedo or not. He has admitted dating teenagers (but he always asked their mama's permission!) even though he suggested he didn't "generally" date them by the time he was in his 30's.

The 14-year-old that he was allegedly with says their was no intercourse. So, I don't know if we can say he is a card-carrying pedo or not by the letter of the law.

I keep going back to Trump on this. I am impressed with his vetting of the two choices and his full support of Luther Strange. The Religious Right of Alabama like Moore better than Trump so it didn't matter, though. None of this really matters. Roy will be elected. A "fait accompli", as it were.

He signed the yearbook as "DA" when he was a mere Deputy DA. That's now being offered as 'proof' the signature was forged. That's all Breitbart's got.

                      • I don't actually mean it. Neither one side nor the other is monolithic that way. It's just amusing that after Kapture claimed the left was soft on pedos, and after, it appears, a concentrated campaign by Bannon type of people and organizations to build momentum for that kind of nonsense, that the right has been presented with a giant opportunity to be on the right side of an obvious debate here and is actually legitimately struggling to do so.
