Yep, Trump has a long, antagonistic relationship with the NFL. People have noticed that once he lost his bid to buy the Bills, he began frequently tweeting about how boring NFL games were and how wimps were now running the game.

I don't know why Lincoln bothered. After all, they knew what they were getting into.

There is some debate now about one of the most famous letters in American history.
It was written to a Mrs. Bixby of Boston, Massachusetts in 1864 and signed by the President of the United States, Abraham Lincoln. Lincoln had been notified, incorrectly it turns out, that Mrs. Bixby, a widow, had lost five sons in the Civil War. Two would survive the conflict/ There are also some who question whether Lincoln himself wrote the letter. But none of that should detract from the words and sentiments contained within - thoughts that seem all the more resonant in light of our current news cycle.
-----
Executive Mansion, Washington, November 21, 1864.
Mrs. Bixby, Boston, Massachusetts:
DEAR MADAM: I have been shown in the files of the War Department a statement of the Adjutant-General of Massachusetts that you are the mother of five sons who have died gloriously on the field of battle.
I feel how weak and fruitless must be any words of mine which should attempt to beguile you from the grief of a loss so overwhelming. But I cannot refrain from tendering to you the consolation that may be found in the thanks of the Republic they died to save.
I pray that our Heavenly Father may assuage the anguish of your bereavement, and leave you only the cherished memory of the loved and lost, and the solemn pride that must be yours to have laid so costly a sacrifice upon the altar of freedom.
Yours very sincerely and respectfully,
Abraham Lincoln.I feel like I am watching the destruction of our democracy while my neighbors and friends cheer it on
