  • On Mckay .......

Maybe we should be adopting some of his sensibilities with respect to how serious we take M football and the where it is right now.

    Works for me.
Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

    • Nikki Finke’s Unbelievable Nelson Mandela Tweet Inspires Hilarious #FinkeObits Hashtag

      by Josh Feldman | 6:50 pm, December 5th, 2013 14

Hollywood blogger (formerly of Deadline) Nikki Finke took to Twitter, as most of us did, to remember the life and legacy of Nelson Mandela. But because of the industry she’s in, Finke approached the subject from a… slightly different angle.

The tweet inspired some bewildered and quite harsh reactions on Twitter, but no reaction was better than the trend that kicked off in the immediate aftermath: #FinkeObits.

Finke did address the haters after feeling some of the social media pushback.

      Not helping.

      • LOL. I'll never forget the press release FSU put out when Joseph Heller died. The second sentence: ``But Heller is better remembered in the Tallahassee area for a panel on modern literature he participated in in 1983...''

                      • I have always wondered ... what did they use to put out the fire on the river? ..

.. I mean, what do you use? ..

With Cleveland's luck, there would be a mixup the interpretation of inviting "silicon valley" to relocate, ... and they'd end up with the porn industry ....

                        • Some interesting history behind the river fire...

The story of the Cuyahoga River fire of 1969 - the event that sparked pop songs, lit the imagination of an entire nation, and badly tarnished a city's reputation - is built more on myths than reality. Yes, an oil slick on the Cuyahoga River - polluted from decades of industrial waste - caught fire on a Sunday morning in June 1969 near the Republic Steel mill, causing about $100,000 worth of damage to two railroad bridges. Initially the fire drew little attention, either locally or...

The famous photo of the fire used on Time Magazine was actually of a fire in 1952. No photos of the '69 fire are known to exist. It wasn't considered a major incident until Time made it famous and the environmental movement made it a cause celebre in the late 60's-early 70's.
