  • Yeah he's on the dole alright, what a slacker.

    • good article hack. Cost-plus simply doesn't keep costs down, in defense procurement, or in administering insurance.

It is no wonder to me that insurance companies were some of the biggest proponents of the ACA. I just don't think that a bureaucrat would service these accounts any more cheaply.

Oh, yes, he made too much money. And, yes, in my world there are consequences for decisions, even bad ones. Remember Hillary's question about virtually any decision made by an individual: "What if they make the wrong choice?" The other option is Hillary and her ilk making the choice for you. That may appeal to most here, but it doesn't appeal to working folks. One reason we work is to be independent and make our own choices, even if they are wrong.
It wasn't a guy who died. No, if you read the article it was the wife who died from the asthma attack.

No the ACA couldn't cover them because they were in the Medicaid gap. It's all there in the article. And for a guy who acts like he knows everything, you should know what the Medicaid gap is. You are awfully ignorant on it. Read up, it involves the working poor in states that opted out of the medicaid expansion. But I will make the note that Jenny Steinke deserved it.

In my mind, I am not conflating health care access and health care. Like someone said in your boy Labrador's town hall, everyone has access to a Mecedes but not if you can't afford it.

What is your solution CGVT? You sit there on the dole and criticise any thought other than getting you more money from the government.
          Yep. I'm on the dole.

          You are a fucking jackass.

I work. My wife works. I collect my military retirement (that I fucking earned, BTW) I pay taxes. I have insurance, but I am willing to pay more tax so that those that don't can.

If you can't get a job, you don't have an employer. Contrary to your belief, most people that don't have jobs want jobs, they are not lazy slackers.

Geezer, when is the last time that you ran out of gas in your car because you had to make a decision between $5 worth of gas and a loaf of bread the day before payday.

It's been a while, if ever, I'm sure, but that is the reality for many, many, people in this country.

The solution to health care is some type of single payer system.

Too bad there are a so many ignorant, greedy, fucksticks like Geezer to keep it from happening.

          • In Stanford’s case, we pay Blue Shield 3 percent of the amount, about $3 million a year. (Note that the overhead costs of Medicare are less than one-third as much at slightly less than 1 percent.)

I can't speak to the inner workings of Geezer's brain, but I think there are a ton of decent people who believe this kind of stuff, and I think it's because for most of their lives they have had it rammed down their throats. Private-sector companies can be and often are just as wasteful and inefficient as governments. Any big organization is going to be that way to an extent.

But for a generation now we've been selective in how we talk and think about inefficiency and how it impacts us. We ignore one kind and focus on the other, to the detriment of actually being able to improve things, or to look at the facts and make a facts-based decision. And at this point a lot of people are old dogs who won't be able to learn new tricks. In the category of understanding civics, we have a lost generation on our hands here. What's important, IMO, is to make sure it never happens again. We need to have debates about economics and debates about how the public sector really works, with intelligent comparisons to the private sector rather than naive lionizations unsupported by fact.

              • Just a thought ...... GVT's post violates rule 2. I'm not really enjoying making these posts.

Here's how I see the current situation that is producing attacks consisting of name calling:

Geezer your posts tend to be subtly disrespectful and at times frankly disrespectful. In my view, that's what's precipitated the attacks that I've flagged over the last two weeks.

My sense, Geeze, is you do some fly by posting that either reflects not much thought about a post you want to respond to or skimming the link and missing important points made in the link. JMO, I could be wrong.

Posters here simply need to avoid name calling that goes beyond humor even if someone else posts something that is offensive to you.

Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

Don't write a post that attacks, impugns or denigrates another poster's character
. There's an obvious difference between the language of humor and hateful, debased language. Know the difference and post accordingly

                  This is Geezer's MO.

If he is going to dish it, he damn sure better be able to take it.

                  • That link I posted is very illuminating because Da Geezer has leaned on the fact that everyone has access to the emergency room, therefore they have healthcare. AKA nobody is dying in the street. In this case, she was able to get access to ER care, but by then it was too late.

He talks about needing people to work to get medicaid, they were working. I guess the next step spend no money, however trivial on anything.

CGVT: for a long period you had on your avatar something like

                      I am on welfare
                      My opinion doesn't count

So I'm not to believe you?

                      • CG means coast Guard and anyone who has been on these forums for any length of time would know that. No sale, that's your go to move when confronted with something you don't ike. You did the same thing with me, accused me of being on the dole. You accuse people of being lazy teachers when they make pro-teacher arguments. It's like you can't grasp that some people might be making an argument for something that might even be against their self interest and independent of their situation.

I've never complained about the personal attacks on me. Never. You snowflakes should grow up. These are just words.

What really riles you up is that you understand at some level that I am right. And, I'll point out to you that I often post what I consider solutions to the problems we discuss here. When I ask:

"What would you do to improve K-12 education?"
"What do you propose to cut health care costs?"

all I get is crickets. Your leftist answer is always more taxation to pay more money to more government employees or welfare recipients. No one here even acknowledged what Wizard said a couple days ago. He said his premiums had gone up 250% and his copay was $ 25,000 yearly. He is actually ON Obamacare. But that doesn't fit your socialist narrative. I've said this forum is best when posters are talking about their own experiences. How many of you guys are actually buying insurance on the exchanges? Wizard is. Why don't you care about him?

One thing remains true for many lefties here. You know that in a competitive market, you would not do well, so you posture as being concerned for the less fortunate when really all you care about is equality of outcomes. That is the core of it. When I say common sense things like "not all people are equally talented or intelligent..", you get all pissy.

sticks and stones may break my bones,
but words will never hurt me.

                          grow up.

Nobody is arguing that. Nobody on this board ever has. They are not, but just because a person is not as talented or intelligent should they not have health care?

Screw those stupid, talentless bastards. Let em die. That will make 'merica great again!

And I won't even address your statement about a competitive market because it is just a weak troll.
