  • That Dublin Irish Festival is very good, it's worth the trip even if the dance competition has throuroughly outgrown Dublin Coffman High School.

    • Oh, heh, right. Well, sure.

We are a bit short on microbreweries. Fortunately, the "Daily Growler" is half a mile from my house and offers 60 different beers with an emphasis on local and state varieties. And with it being such a short drive, I can easily go get a refill if I work my way through my standard 3 growler order!

It's also a "no TV" place. If I weren't anchored by infernal domestic obligations I'd be down there frequently for a a flight or two or five.

        • I've still never made it there...been to the Ohio Taproom once down in Grandview.

I completed the Ale Trail Challenge this past year...28 locations...this year it's going to be 37! That's a lot of work!

          • That's some quality work, DSL.

Froot, I like the festival well enough. I can't speak to dance competitions, however.

25 years ago Dublin Coffman was just Dublin. Now there are 3 high schools in the district. "Old Dublin" is pretty nice. "Muirfield/Zoo" Dublin -- boo!

                        • DJT is getting the South Koreans all a-fluster over handing them a $1B invoice for the THAAD anti-missile system. I have zero issues with this, although as usual his approach appears to be clumsy. Excepts of note from the WaPo article:

The South Korean government had been reluctant to deploy the system, aimed at guarding against the North Korean threat, because it would anger China, its biggest trading partner.

The U.S. military had been urging Seoul to deploy the system, and the government finally agreed in July last year. Under their agreement, the United States would pay for the system while South Korea would supply the land for it.

The idea that South Korea would have to pay for a system that many reject, analysts say, will boost support for Moon Jae-in, the liberal candidate for president who has vowed to review the previous government’s decision to host the THAAD system.

My thoughts: IDK why we’re pressing them to take a $1B weapon system- if they don’t want it, find somebody who does. Just let them know that after today the price goes up to $5B...something to think about if Kim starts lobbing rockets into Seoul.

Yeah, pretty shitty. I'm a big fan of Whedon's stuff, but he's definitely made some comments that go way beyond political commentary. Very disappointing. There's plenty of ways to go after these guys without that BS.
