  • I definitely think her first tweet is in the context of Armed Services Committee work

Could be. If so, you'd think she and her staff might have been smart enough to say so, especially since the tweet is tantamount to daring people to fact-check her, and it turned out to be ridiculously easy to do so. But I'm more inclined to just read the tweet. The back half of it seems to steer people away from looking for a wider context. Is its own context.

        • Great letter to the editor

To the editor: As you report, Ronald Reagan was indeed recovering from a bullet wound in 1981. Still, that did not stop him from speaking at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner via telephone.

He addressed the attendees from Camp David and apologized for not being there in person. He joked, “When somebody tells you to get in a car quick, do it.”

Skipping the annual press dinner is a missed opportunity for Trump to show he is a real person with humor and good sportsmanship in the innocuous and lighthearted banter of the correspondents’ dinner. Sadly, our president will sit and stew in the White House rather than join the party.

Trump could have learned a lot from Reagan — most importantly, relationships matter and don’t take yourself so seriously.

            Comment

            • Part of the problem for Trump is their stance on these Russia stories keeps changing. Just 24 hours ago, Sessions swore he couldn't remember what he discussed. Today, he was 100% positive their conversation had nothing to do with the election.

This is similar to the Flynn story. First they denied Flynn talked to the Russians. Then oh yes, they spoke, but it was just to say Merry Christmas 5 times in one day. Then it became he couldn't recall. Then it became sanctions might've been mentioned but so what? He has every right to do so. Then he 'resigned' for 'lying' to Pence even though he'd done 'nothing wrong'.

It's hard to keep your story straight when you are trying to cover something up and don't know what Press has in reserve.

On top of that if you believe the Times bombshell from last night, a lot of the info on Trump operatives meeting Russian operatives in foreign countries is coming from foreign service agencies. And it has come in since the election.

Vice President Mike Pence routinely used a private email account to conduct public business as governor of Indiana, at times discussing sensitive matters and homeland security issues.

So far, I can't find any. The only material consequence that I can think of for Trump's election that actually benefits Putin is that Trump won't unilaterally promise to sacrifice American money and troops to fight Russia if Putin invades one of his neighbors.
Well there are all those pesky sanctions that the US has put on Russia. Because of those sanctions Exxon (Tillerson's old company) was unable to do a $50 billion deal. Get the sanctions lifted and that deal takes place.

This is exactly the problem. Why not just tell the whole truth and get it out in the open? Sessions, in particular, had two staffers in the room for the meeting. Or why not send a letter to the Senate committee and revise the testimony?

I will point out that Sessions' recusal was related to the Trump "campaign". That means until November 8. 2016.
