The nutshell is that Kennard loves UK but UK's system isn't the best fit for him. He would probably be better off at Duke, OSU or M. At the moment, it seems that cold rationality is unlikely to win out over UK. If it does, OSU feels very good.
Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]? Brady Hoke: You know.....not....good.
They're going to need it. Losing Craft, Smith and probably Ross will be huge deal. Actually, I could have just stopped with Craft.
Shannon Scott will still be around, and I really like his arc. Sam Thompson MAY still be around. And we'll see how others develop. But the class of 2014 is huge for OSU. Right now they just need a legitimate big to make that class fantastic. Getting a true PG in 2015 is also huge -- they'll get 2 to 20 players (IMO), but they'll also need a PG. Must have.

Craft has been a remarkable college player. 4-year guy you can actually build a program around. Stupid if he's not one of the first few picks in the second round. Take a flier cause that's potentially a lovely short-minutes specialist in the NBA but at the very least a great practice player.
I think he'll have a spot somewhere. He's too good defensively. I "heard" that he was giving Kyrie Irving fits this summer. Also heard that one guy he has a hard time with is Conley and his quicks.
But, yeah, if a player like Bruce Bowen can hang around for awhile, I think Craft can.

Thompson is potentially ready to explode. Modern prototype NBA SF role player, with the athleticism for D and the 3 ball. Shoot the 3s in more volume this year and add in another core skill and he's a great prospect. Lets see what he comes back with in offseason improvements.
I don't have a narrative on Scott. He'll certainly have a larger role this year tho.
Yeah, GR3 is my probably my #1 candidate for breakout player of the year. I think McGary will massively improve over what he did last season, but I think he already "broke" out in March. I think, to a lesser extent, the same can be said for Ross. I think everyone will tab McGary as preseason all-b10, and I think a lot will do the same for Ross.
GR3, IMO, still has yet to break out. So I put him at #1. I think Thompson is either #2 or really close to it. It's all there but the consistency!

Well Yogi Ferrell should come back with a much higher useage rate and therefore is a candidate. He could be pretty talented, and is a true smurf so we could be dealing with him for a while.
We'll see with GR3. He's got to decide what he wants to be as an SF. As a Michigan player next year he'll be a good player to have. I have a hard time seeing him in the NBA tho. Some very nice skills but some serious flaws too, and the whole package is an odd mix. Not big enough to be an SF, but probably not quick enough to stay with guards on defense or get by any of them off teh dribble. He's going to have to use every bit of that basketball IQ he's got. That said, if Irvin is really ready he will challenge both GR3 and Stauskas. Irvin looks to be much more of a complete player.

It is a good class in 2014, but is it disappointing to OSU fans that the last two reload classes had much worse top end talent? Especially since 2011's Shannon Scott and Amir Williams are obviously not as advertised. Scott not so much, Amir definitely. Luckily Laquinton Ross is a star IMO, that will help offset that situation.
I mean, good classes, but lacking the star power from Matta's glory year tears.
yes, it looks like it was a bit of a drought. That's why I asked Talent a few days ago what was up. Matta's a great coach though and he made do with less this year, that's for sure. He had a lot less talent to work with then teams OSU played even.
We'll see about Ross. He'll have the chance to make OSU's offense more than just Thomas and Craft being a gamer this year, and didn't really establish himself as that second scorer they really could have used to be elite.
