  • I think he'll be a tough get. I put him 3rd on my wishlist thus far too.

    • Trey Burke, Dennard Robinson, and Tate Forcier are all listed at 6' which is an example of the statistical inflation of dimensions of athletes in sports media listings. Looking at photos of Dennard and Tate they are towered over by teammates in the huddle and even when conferring with coaches on the sidelines. As for Trey the comparison with teammates is worthless because they are all so huge. And the wingspan of a 6'5" player? Give me a break...

Talent can overcome some of these shortcomings. Think Isiah Thomas. But a good big guy can almost always beat a good little guy. I should know. Those of you who have met me know what I mean.

      • I think it means his wingspan is 6-5 as measured, not that it is the equivalent of someone that height. Although, in general wingspan and height are supposed to be the same.

I'm dubious that a long wingspan means you play taller. I don't think it necessarily does. But in the case of a shorty like Burke, long arms might mean the ability to get shots off in traffic, which he definitely can do.

        • Wingspan imo helps most on the defensive end. Deflecting passes/making it tougher for guy your guarding to make a pass, blocking shots, etc.

          • My point is that not all players cash in equally on their long arms. It's not a substitute for height.

            • Vinnie Johnson could sure light it up .... he wasn't very tall ...

These measurements were taken at a camp in Chicago. There's no reason for them to inflate the numbers.

Speaking of, I just measured myself at my chiropractor. I'm 6'3" in shoes!

                  • Yeah, I got a sweet pair of Air Aldrich's yesterday.

                      • Sam Webb with a write up on Jae'Sean Tate. It sounds to me like he's a Michigan lean. Also, if you go to the bottom of the article and read the Comments, you can see the knuckle-draggers from oiho already ripping on him, just for looking our way.

Some ohioans are pleased when their children break free of the gloom and dispair of ohio. Others find fault when they do so, because they envy them. Seems it has always been that way. Ever since they lost the Michigan -ohio war, and had to take Toledo as their punishment ....

                          • Of the 4 Michigan has offered, he tops my list. Sorry Hack, if this makes you cringe but he seems like a good 4 in Coach Beilein's system. Of course, he could also be a 3. He looks taller than 6'7".

                            • They say he's still growing and I really like him too. Probably #2 on my list behind Booker, but a class of Booker, Diop and whoever else would be ridiculous.

                              • Booker is really smooth. I guess I tend to favor frontcourt players, as far as our needs go. I'm projecting that McGary will be gone no later than after his Sophomore year and Morgan will be gone too.

It sounds like we're in the top 3 for all 4 of the players we offered (top 2 for Tate). I could see Michigan landing 3 of them.

It's amazing how far we seem to have come in a matter of 3 or 4 years, in terms of recruiting. Wasn't Darius Morris the first Top 100 player that Beilein landed?
