We might know as early as later on tonight who U of M faces next weekend (we have a bye this weekend as the #2 CCHA seed; Ferris is seeded #1, WMU #3, and the next 2 teams, Miami and spartie (who already know they play each other next weekend)--- they all have byes this weekend, too.) Last night, the home teams, the #6, 7, and 8 seeds, all beat the #11, 10, and 9 seeds, respectively. If that trend holds tonight, it means "M" will host LSSU next weekend at Yost.

2 teams just advanced to the next round of the CCHA Tournament with 2-0 sweeps: ND just beat ohio 4-2, and LSSU earlier finished off Alaska Fairbanks 2-0. But last-place BGSU tied their series tonight vs. NMU, beating Northern 5-3, so Michigan's Icers still don't know who they'll play next weekend. If BG somehow beats NMU again tomorrow, then that means their next task will be to face #1 Ferris, while Michigan would then draw ND next weekend at Yost. If NMU instead prevails at home tomorrow, U of M hosts LSSU in Round 2.

Michigan gets ND at Yost this coming weekend---last-place Bowling Green is to be thanked for U of M getting the Irish, as BG came from behind both Saturday and Sunday to upset NMU up at Marquette, winning the series 2 games to one.
I'd have predicted LSSU to be our upcoming opponent, but the more I think about it, the more I'm happy to see it's ND instead---there should be no way that this series doesn't get the team's attention. We can't afford to sleep-walk thru a game like we did last weekend at BG, ND is more talented but also more inconsistant than LSSU (a team that seems to get the most out of the talent they have there).
ND is dangerous, but beatable. Tickets are still available, but right now I'm thinking watch it at home with the hope of taking in a semi-final or Championship game the following weekend at The Joe.

Opening faceoff vs. ND at Yost is just under 4 hours away (7:30 pm EST)---not on TV (surprised and NOT happy about this!), and I'm not going this weekend, so the only way to access the game for all of us not within 15 miles of Ann Arbor (the approximate night-time signal strength of WTKA, which probably is opting instead for the basketball game anyway, then likely switching over in-progress to the rest of the hockey game) is to go to the U of M website, I have a link at the top of this thread, but here it is again anyway:
...first click on the link, then scroll down a bit to the icon showing the ND logo, where it says "listen".
We split the season series with ND 1 game apiece about a month ago (both games in South Bend); IMO it's important that we grab game one tonight.Last edited by Rob F; March 9, 2012, 03:48 PM.
