We're now back in sole possession of 3rd, 6 points behind Ferris and just a point back of WMU, but we have several teams within 5 points behind us, so this season is far from over with just 4 games to go for all the contenders other than ohio, who are 2 points behind us but have just 2 games left.
Our schedule sets up nicely for us, with 2 home games next weekend vs. NMU--they're also just 5 points behind us, tied for 6th place; then we finish the regular season at BG, the CCHA cellar-dweller by a HUGE margin. Problem is, 1st place Ferris has a pair at home next week against that same pathetic Bowling Green team, then finish with a home-and-home vs. 2nd place WMU.
WMU has the toughest remaining schedule of the top 3 teams---besides the season ending home-and-home vs. Ferris, they have 2 road games at 4th-place LSSU this coming weekend.
It's realistically gonna be real tough to catch Ferris for the regular-season crown (even though we swept them in the only 2 games we faced them this season, back in October). We'll need help from either BGSU (good luck on that happening!!) or, more likely, needthem to get swept by WMU on the last weekend of the season, while we win all 4 and WMU stumbles at least once vs. LSSU. If we end up tied in points at the end under this scenario, we would get the regular-season crown and top seed in the CCHA Tournament due to our sweep of our season series vs. Ferris.
Right now, by far the most likely ending will be Michigan overtaking WMU for 2nd place, but Ferris taking the crown.Last edited by Rob F; February 12, 2012, 12:12 AM.
