  • After 2 periods, M still leading 2-1, thanks to some great goaltending by Shawn Hunwick. Irish outshot Michigan 17-8 in the 2nd period, and 27-18 so far for the game

    • Irish went on a power play near the end of the 2nd, but a mental mistake (or was it "caught cheating"?) evened things up, as ND was whistled for too many men on the ice. The period ended on a 4-on-4 situation which will turn into a Michigan power play soon after teh start of the 3rd.

      • ND gets a power play on a ticky-tack high-sticking penalty on Guptill, then on the delay a ND skater clearly interfers with Michigan goalie Hunwick, but no penalty called on what was practically a tackle! How could they miss that f'n call!!!!!!?????

        • Killed that PP, still 2-1 w/ 14 minutes to go in the game. Need another goal, got to get to that 2-goal cushion, really really need a "W" tonight

            • ND called a timeout, 34 seconds left with the faceoff in the Irish zone, so Irish can't pull their goalie at this point

              • V I C T O R Y ! ! !

2-1, as Hunwick was sensational in goal, 38 saves on 39 shots, just that giveaway-turned-goal early in the 2nd for ND, Michigan was outshot 39-26 for the game.. No doubt #1 star of the game is Hunwick!

                • An update on the CCHA standings:

The bad news? Michigan moved down one spot in the standings this weekend, from 3rd down to 4th place

The good news? With last night's win at ND gave us a 1 loss/1 win split this weekend, we're now even closer to first place than we were after last weekend. League leading ohio lost 1 in regulation (Friday) and got just 1 point in a shootout loss last night vs. Ferris, 2nd place WMU lost twice to then-4th place Miami, and Miami leapfrogged us into a tie with WMU.

                  • Right now, it's a very tight race, with 8 of the 11 CCHA teams within 6 points of 1st place:

                    • Biggest problem for Michigan right now is that 4 of those 8 teams in the running---2nd place WMU, and Ferris St., ND, and spartie (all within striking distance behind them) all have played just 18 conference games and have 10 games remaining, while Michigan and the other 3 teams still in the race, including 1st place ohio, have all played 20 with 8 games to go.

Simply put, Michigan, which has only lost 1 of their last 11 games, MUST stay hot, MUST keep winning, and let the other contenders knock each other out!

                      • If they can just get to The Joe for the semis in the CCHA Tourney, they'll be in good shape.

Then try reading it on your computer instead of on a Jumbletron. I just looked at it and it shows up just fine, nothing jumbled up at all...
