    • Nobody plays college hockey better than the eastern teams.

      Nobody.

      Just ask them.

      • I have a feeling Yost is gonna be on fire tomorrow night. I'm going as a group of 8 including my kids' first Michigan hockey game. Tickets sold out in 27 minutes and the secondary market is insane with most seats going for several times face value. And when I say several, I mean 5-10 fold. All the single seats are sold and standing room is going for $60-$80 as of last night.

        6:30 BTN! Don't miss it!

        • Ohio State loses and somehow moves up from 10 to 8 in the pairwise. Back into the fucking woodchipper region.

          • Meanwhile Cornell showed those ponces from Clarkson how to play hockey like gentlemen and it's on to Lake Placid and a meeting with the despicable Crimson.

            • As mentioned earlier, Michigan's Men's Hockey team defeated Ohio State last night at Yost by a score of 7-3. The Wolverines jumped out to a 3-0 first period lead and never looked back. Adam Fantilli had another 4 point night as he scored 2 goals, and assisted on 2 others. Fantilli is a nominee for the Hobey Baker award.

Michigan will make the trek north to Minneapolis Minnesota to play the Goofers in the B1G Tournament Final next Saturday. The game will be broadcast by the Big Ten Network at 8:00 pm ET.

Michigan will get a NCAA berth regardless of the outcome at Minnesota. But with a win, they could qualify as high as a #1 seed, I believe. Mike probably knows for sure.

I believe Mike attended the game and can probably fill in more on what happened.

Technically, they're 9th (tied with PSU at #8 but the Nits win more total comparisons).

                • Right, but 9 or 8...it's still death.

                  • It's possible they could split up the 4 Big Ten teams so they are all in separate regionals. Minnesota and Michigan will both be 1s (1 and 4 overall), PSU and OSU will be on the 2/3 line. They could easily ship each of them to the other two regions without Minny (Fargo) and Michigan (likely Manchester). I think they'll put PSU in Allentown as the 2 or 3 and that would put OSU in Bridgeport. Goddamn, the NCAA hockey tourney is awful.

                    Liney,

The game Saturday was electric! I've probably been to roughly 100 Michigan hockey games with 75 of them at Yost and I can't recall many that were more fun than this one. I knew the crowd would be fired up based on the ticket demand and they didn't disappoint. Plus we had 4 first-timers with us, my two kids, a niece and nephew. We were low in the end where Michigan shoots twice and we got 6 of the 7 goals in front of us. The Brindley goal 23 seconds in set the tone and it was pretty much party time from that point on.

Fantilli is a man among boys out there. He now has 60 points which leads the country by 4 in only 31 games. Glad I got to see him and Luke Hughes at least once on home ice as that was their last game at Yost. Couldn't go out any better.

Maybe the best part of the night. It would have been professional malpractice on the part of the students if this didn't happen.

And to top it all off, we ran into Jim Harbaugh on the concourse during the 2nd intermission and got a photo with him. Not a bad night at all!

                    • I regret to inform everyone that Cornell fell to the duplicitous Crimson, 1-0, in OT. Probably dooms our tourney chances. Next time you see your boss, who’s probably a Cornell man, spare a kind thought.

                          • Michigan won the B1G title in Minnesota tonight by a score of 4-3. Its the 2nd year in a row that M has won the tournament title in Minnesota. I'm sure Mike is estatic tonight.

                              • Michigan earned the #3 overall seed in the NCAA tourney and will open against DSL's Colgate Big Red in Allentown. They leaped over Denver by a millionth of an RPI point. For real. Michigan's RPI is 0.578906 whereas Denver's is a paltry 0.578905.

How do you gain that extra millionth of a point? Score the championship-winning goal at the #1 team in the country whilst sitting on their defenseman. If Michigan gets by Colgate, they'll likely face Penn State with a trip to the Frozen Four on the line.

FWIW, Michigan finished #2 in both human polls behind Minnesota.
