  • Last-place Bowling Green upset...er, lets call it a HUGE upset... first-place Ferris, 4-3 in overtime Sunday night to win that series on the road 2-games-to-one.

BG next faces Michigan this Friday at the Joe---speculation is that the puck drops at 8 pm, putting the game in direct conflict, time-wise, with Michigan's Hoops opening-round game (tipoff at 7:20).

    • Sucks for Ferris. They led the CCHA for most of the season, only to lose out in the CCHA playoffs. Can they still be considered for an at-large berth in the NCAA's? Maybe Mike can fill us in ...

I might be at that game on Friday night at the Joe. A buddy of mine wants to go, and has been bugging me to go with him.

      • Ferris was in line for a #1 seed before choking against BGSU. I believe they were up 3-1 in the 3rd period of the deciding game. They are currently #7 and a likely 2 seed in the NCAA tourney.

Michigan is currently #2 behind BC in the Pairwise. A win over BGSU Friday night probably locks up a #1 seed regardless if they lose the final. A win in the final may propel them to the overall #1 depending on what BC does in Hockey East. Keep in mind Michigan beat BC in the GLI this year.

On the bubble are MSU (14), Western (15), and NMU (16). One of them will get bumped for the Atlantic Hockey auto-bid.

        • Where are the regionals this year? If Michigan somehow becomes the overall #1, would that get them a regional close to home?

          • The regionals are set for Bridgeport, Worcester, Green Bay, and St. Paul, so I'd think if Michigan wins the CCHA, the Wolverines are a lock for the top spot in Green Bay.

            • Not that anyone here would possibly forget (chuckle), but just a reminder, anyway---the Michigan Hockey Team plays Bowling Green tonight at The Joe--puck drops in just 25 minutes for the semi-final game of the CCHA Tournament. Anyone wanting to watch it live on the tube--it's on the FoxSportsDetroit 'overflow' channel, if ya got DirecTV, that would be on channel 664 for standard TV, ch. 664-1 for HDTV. (if you have Dish, Comcast, U-Verse, etc., you'll have to find it on your own!)

I'll try to give an occasional score, but will primarily be watching hoops---GO BLUE!

Merrill gets us back in the game, with just 10 seconds left in the 2nd period! NEEDED THAT!!!

                    • What a disaster of a day! Four players leave the FB team; UM hoops gets humiliated in front of a national audience for the second time in a week and we're losing to the bottom feeder in the CCHA
