  • It was one of those overtimes where Michigan missed so many chances you were just waiting for ND to win it on a goal completely against the run of play. Red Berenson just called it "heart attack hockey." But Hunwick kept them in the game, and Chris Brown got the winner.

    • Finally! Long goal-scoring drought ends---nothing since the 1:08 mark of the opening period, Chris Brown gets the winner 3:11 into 2nd OT

      • Game well underway, and MICHIGAN just took a 1-0 lead, with just 1:07 left in the 1st period, David Wohlberg gets the goal.

Funny thing, last night, it was (I believe) 1:07 minutes into the game that Michigan scored the first goal. I'll have to look back and check that box score to make sure on that...

          2-0 M E E E E C H I G A N !!!

This goal @ the 5:33 mark of period #2, assist by AJ Treais.

...and before I could post this, Michigan almost puts another one in, ND taking a penalty in an attempt to stop the scoring chance, so "M" goes on a PP

          • nothing on the power play, ...but here come's Michigan with some more scoring firepower!!!

M 3- ND 0, at the 12:09 mark of the 2nd, Wohlberg gets his 2nd of the night... now ND scores, just 19 seconds later, making it 3-1 good guys

            • 2nd period over, we still lead 3-1. Game not over by any means, as ND seems to have ignited there offense with that goal, they've put constant pressure on Shawn Hunswick ever since.

veering just slightly off-topic...among the faces reportedly in the crowd tonight at Yost, are future M QB Shane Morris along with the recruit-visitor-of-the-weekend, RB Ty Isaac. Also there for the 2nd straight night, is Brady Hoke. No mention yet if Denard is there, but he has been at several M Hockey games this season

                        • Bowling Green and Ferris still need to play a deciding Game 3 tomorrow. If BGSU pulls the upset, Michigan will be the highest remaining seed. Miami and Western Michigan also advanced.

MGoBlog has a thread up with both video (taken on a cell phone with no zoom---not too good) and some great still shots of Hoke and his wife and daughters, mostly of them dancing to that Blues Brothers theme Can't Turn You Loose, (here on the intro to Hey Bartender)

                              and the longer cut:

...but you'll have to go to MGoBlog for the Hoke Family video and pictures:

                              • I love reading posts about Hoke and players attending hockey and basketball games and taking recruits with them. . To me it really shows how important UM is to them and that they just want to see the university succeed in everything. It reminds me of a story the softball coach told about Bo. After winning the national title, everytime she saw him he would give her a big smile and thumbs up. She said Bo was proud of her for winning for Michigan. I get the feeling that is how Brady is. And as the head of THE athletic program at UM, that goes a long way. Simply fantastic.
