Not as close as the score suggests, the low amount of possessions (and Ryan Day) is the only thing that slowed down the Buckeyes offense from scoring well into the 40's.

      Congratulations Buckeye fans.

      42 - 27, 45 - 23, 30 - 24, 13 - 10.

      0 - 4
Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

That being said, .. GFY ...

          yer pal Liney ...
Appreciate it, Liney. And, of course, GFY.

I thought they went conservative one drive too early. But, again, they only punted once and that was on a result of an easy through Howard missed. On their first FG, Howard missed Tate on a longer TD throw and then the holding penalty killed them. On the next drive Egbuka's fumble stopped them. The next drive was the punt and the last drive was the FG at the end.

They only had 8 total drives. So, the low possessions really limited them.

At 31-7 they had ND at 3rd and forever and gave up a pass interference. On a different drive it seemed like ND converted multiple 4th downs to keep it going.

As an aside, I'm not a fan of FGs over TDs, but at least I'm talking about made FGs. JFC.

I agree as a Dan Campbell man, but you have to have the offense to go for it. ND's offense is not built for that.

I guess you can give more blame to the Buckeyes defense for giving up long possessions to ND for keeping the Buckeyes offense off the field. Regardless, the Buckeyes weren't going to be slowed down by anything other than a Wolverine defense

Yeah -- the 8 possessions was really annoying. 34 points from 8 possessions is solid and that includes one possession where they overtly settled for 3.

I'm still puzzled by that all out blitz on 3rd and 11. Notre Dame had the chance to get off the field with basic coverage, that's a call maybe you do near the goal line. If they pick up the blitz like they had been doing all night, you are fucked

They were playing soft man -- the DB was 10 yards off and Smith still ran straight by him.
