Seems like Buckeyes fans are generally owning up to this one from what I’ve seen. (Not talking about the gentlemen here). Basically the idiom “the straw that broke the camel’s back.”

Ryan Day’s country club culture and Chip Kelly’s all-time terrible game plan. Such as running the ball up the middle instead of using the elite WRs on the outside. M’s weakness is their secondary and the strength is the DLine. Will Howard playing his worst game as a Buckeye at the wrong time. The special teams and kicking being bad… despite whatever happened vs IU last week.

Yes, again… Give me Jack Sawyer to my Detroit Lions with the #32 overall pick. His defense played incredibly well yesterday. That huge Mullings run in the 4th Q was probably the one negative moment for the Buckeyes D.

Well, the narrative among ohio fans (not those here) has been that "Michigan has only won these games because they cheat". They really need to abandon that mantra. They're lying to themselves.

Ohio State will win this game again. Its just a matter of time. This series has always swung back and forth.

But when Ohio State wins again, it will be because they play better football than Michigan does.

When a group of football players climb to the top of the mountain in a victory against all odds there's "the plunder and the rewards that come with it." Flag planting is a thing in CFB. It's silly but, happens. Like the Marines famously planting the American flag on Mount Suribachi on Iwo Jima after defeating the Japanese defending it, Fred Moore carried an M flag to mid-field. A few M players joined him to plant it on the OSU "O" on the 50 to celebrate and claim the victory. It was an emotion driven act. In the process of doing that, it fulfilled CRD's description of the importance of winning The Game, claiming "the plunder and rewards that go with it." Both coaches in post game comments said the brawl should not have happened but both acknowledged that emotions were high on both sides. Notably, neither of them condemned flag planting - something that has become an often repeated practice in CFB.

OSU players had started to leave the field but turned around en-mass as the M players arrived with the M flag at midfield. Several M players recalled that it all happened so fast - OSU players rushed the M players with the M flag. OSU's MLB Jack Sawyer grabbed it, threw it to the ground, ripping it up while several other OSU players joined him stomping on it. The M players then confronted the OSU players and the brawl was on. The security staff on the field intervened and started macing players on both sides to separate them. It took a while but both teams ultimately left the field.

I'm not in favor of the NCAA creating a rule that prohibits flag planting after a hard fought, emotionally charged win on an opponent's home field. If your offended by that act, fine, be offended but don't cry for a regulatory organization to create regulations so you're not offended. That's some woke shit right there. The responsibility for controlling and channeling post game emotions lies with the coaches. I didn't see coach Moore involved. I would have liked to see any of the M coaches on the field discourage the act of planting the M flag and intervening to stop it. I did see CRD looking dazed and doing nothing to intervene and stop his OSU players from rushing back to mid field after they had started to leave. CRD's comment on that was that his players are prideful and don't take disrespect lightly. It's a tough situation trying to de-escalate in this circumstance but it's not something the NCAA should create more rules to stop it. Fine the head coaches and leave it at that.

Yes, CRD said the OL didn't gel after the substitutions due to injuries and that explained why OSU's run game wasn't a factor. He also blamed windy conditions keeping Howard from making plays and Fielding from making FGs.

I guess M's outstanding defensive game plan that looked to confuse Howard and execution by the players played no part. Nor did the fact that M made some big plays at the right time and capitalized on them to produce the win and OSU didn't.

When has the BIg Ten or NCAA ever wasted an opportunity to create another rule that takes celebrating out of the game?

They created the Joey Galloway rule, that made it a penalty for removing your helmet to celebrate. There's a penalty for ANY "excessive celebration". There's a penalty for "taunting".

It won't shock me at all to see the NCAA step in and attempt to make a rule banning the practice. Especially with so many incidents (not only at Ohio Stadium) over the weekend.

Even if the NCAA or B1G take no rule-making action, I still think Warde Manuel will create an in-program rule within Michigan athletics that bans 'flag planting'.
