I have an uncanny sense of optimism going into this weekend that the team won't get humiliated and might actually make the OSU fans sweat this one out. We won't win, but I wouldn't exactly hate the Buckeye fans have to postpone the celebration for a couple of hours. All losses are not created equal in this situation. And call it a hunch, but I think that the team still has the fire, if not the ability.
Of course, Talent, when there's ten minutes to go and you're sitting there wondering how on Earth you're in a one point game against such a shitty opponent remember -- it'll be fine.

There's a good review of the problems OSU is facing with the loss of OL starters due to injury at mgo (linked). That weakness plays into an M strength and portends a better outcome in The Game for M. Some of that advantage is undone by the huge advantage OSU has in it's receiver room - all NFL first round draft prospects. Will Howard has been a steady presence at QB for the bucknutz. If Chip Kelley builds a game plan that has Howard getting the ball out of his hands in under 2s, throwing slants and screens, that will negate the pressure M can bring on the interior with Grant and Graham. It's not likely that Will Johnson will play and while the back end has improved for M during the season, they are no match for OSU's NFL bound receivers. OSU's run game was never great out of the gate this season and the OL injuries haven't helped. Traditionally, the team that wins the rushing game, wins The Game. I'm not sure that is true anymore across CFB not just in The Game. In any event, analysts don't think OSU is going to blow out M but they don't think M has much of a chance to pull the upset either.

osu's strength is their passing game.
Michigan's weakness on defense is the DB's especially since they've lost Will Johnson to "NFL Prep" for the rest of the season.
In other "good" news, Brady Hart has now decommitted from Michigan and will reportedly reclassify and sign with Texas Apes and Morons.
I really didn't want to lose that one. To me, he was an insurance policy should Underwood bolt to the portal, and/or the NFL
Oh well ... losing has its consequences.

I think the players will fight hard with a lot of heart and pride, but that won't be enough. The bad guys have too much to overcome.
The only thing that will shock me is if CRD pulls his starters. Even with a 40 point lead. His starters will play all 60 minutes.
I've seen some bowl projections that say even with Michigan at 6-6, they will want to match them up with a SEC team that is 8-4 or even better.

There's plenty of good analysis out there today of The Game that has this sort of equivocation about the outcome - that it's in doubt.......or not. A lot of that is pinned on a rivalry game - throw out records and objectifying evaluations.
OSU's biggest liability is their OL and analysts keep bringing this up and noting Michigan can exploit it. I'm pretty confident that Wink will do just that. Hopefully he can get Howard on the run by pre-snap threats of blitzes but then just rushing 4 dropping the threatening defenders into coverage. If OSU's offense can be kept off schedule and limit long drives that end in TDs to punts and FGs. M has a chance to keep it close. M's DBs are in a huge mismatch against OSU's receivers. M has to have breakout games from their DBs along with a big helping of luck here.
To assure that chance or to be in a position to steal a win late, Warren has to have the game of his career. It looks like M can drive the ball with a short passing game mixed in with big plays from Mullings or Edwards. Erik Campbell's play-calling remains in question so, IDK. M also has a weak Link on the OL by the name Evan. He will be facing a tough pair of DEs. Warren isn't going to be able to sit back and survey the field like he did v. NWU. He will be pressured. That's a given.
M has one big intangible advantage. That's gained by the fact M has nothing to lose, nothing to gain and should play confidently relaxed. Meanwhile, role's reversed after M has won the last three meetings with OSU, the monkey is now on CRD's back and HE HAS to BEAT MICHIGAN to get the damn monkey off of it. OSU is also in a position to drop to a less favorable match-up with 2 losses in the CFP seeding. They'll be playing under pressure and will be tight.
It'll be a good game. Temps in the 20s, sunny and windy. Too cold for me, by about 50 degrees or more.Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished.
