It looked as though there was a limit on how far this Michigan team could go in this tournament, and the Wolverines just hit that limit. They had a shot, with a nine-point lead in the second half, but once Auburn responded with a run, Michigan had no answer. The Tigers had more scorers, took better care of the basketball, and played more aggressive defense over the last ten minutes. They were the #1 overall seed for a reason. Michigan did well to get this far, but Dusty May has some more roster building to do to get this team to Auburn's level.

Turnovers have been a season long problem for this team. They never really got rid of that fault.
But, being in the sweet sixteen is a fine accomplishment. They've got a solid group coming back next season, and Dusty May has proven he belongs among the best college coaches in America.
Every team in the tournament is going to eventually lose except one team. Its just the way it goes.Right before sweet potatoes are mashed, they get very quiet. This is known as the silence of the yams

Tre Donaldson and Jace Howard go into the portal
Donaldson leaves one day after UNC's Elliot Cadeau (jr next year), a former 5 star recruit, saying he will come to Michigan. Cadeau averaged 9.4 ppg and 6.2 dimes2012 Detroit Lions Draft: 1) Cordy Glenn G , 2) Brandon Taylor S, 3) Sean Spence olb, 4) Joe Adams WR/KR, 5) Matt McCants OT, 7a) B.J. Jace wasn't going to get any additional playing time next season, so its probably better for him that he left. Maybe he should focus on a MAC team. I don't know why Donaldson thinks he'll get a better situation elsewhere, but I suppose he can do what he feels is best.Right before sweet potatoes are mashed, they get very quiet. Holy shit! If Yaxel Lindeborg does not go into the NBA Draft (right now he is late first/early second area) it appears that he is going to play his final season of college ball with Michigan. The 6'9 forward averaged 17.7 ppg 11.4 rog and 4,2 dimes. A very high level 2 way player.

Wolf and Lindeborg are projected to go in the draft around the same time, so I think maybe both of them are waiting until the very last minute to make a final decision. There are reports that Michigan is preparing a NIL deal for Wolf that would equal or even slightly exceed what he's projected to make in the NBA at that draft spot. They may do the same for Lindeborg . The availability of NIL money is no problem for Michigan, from what I've heard. If the kid(s) want it, Michigan can get it for them. A lot just depends on how badly the players want to be in the NBA.
Wolf actually sounded like he was sorry that his collegiate career was ending. Maybe he can be swayed to come back and work on his game a bit. Lindeborg has made no secret of the fact that he wants to be in the NBA, and college is his 2nd choice. He's likely to wait until his final draft projection before he makes a decision.
So, bottom line, if they both come back, Michigan is going to be a tough out.Right before sweet potatoes are mashed, they get very quiet. This is known as the silence of the yams
