I don't know how Michigan has won these last two. They've been horrible over the previous two weeks. I'll take the wins.

Coach May deserves a lot of credit for the season. He took a team that won 8 games last year, did some masterful work in the portal, and got them into the B1G championship game, and likely a 3-4 seed in the NCAA's. There have been some ugly losses, but overall, he's done a fine job.

Next year, he gets Michigan's Mr. Basketball. The kid never considered Izzo-land.

And speaking of Izzo.... sucks to be Sparty losing to Wisky. Oh well. Go kiss a floor.

Well, how about that. Michigan is the B1G Tournament Champion. From an 8 win season a year ago, to this. Their first Tournament championship since 2018.

Coach May has done a fine job. Congrats to the guys. Take the momentum into the NCAA's and just play ball.

Before this tournament, I thought this team was a one and done. They proved me wrong. But that happens a lot.

And to think about a week ago everybody was down on Michigan because a couple silly freshmen stood on a logo at the wrong time.

Today, .. torunament champions, while sparty sits and stews in Least Lansing.

They got their banner, and we got ours. Feels good.

        F sparty.

Surprising and a real lift for M athletics. The NCAA Tournament is next:

CBS Sports’ Jerry Palm has already seen enough, as he is currently projecting Michigan to be a 3-seed and take on No. 14 Robert Morris in the first round. As of this writing, Lunardi has Michigan as a 4-seed facing off against No. 13 Akron.
That bracketology was from this morning and before the victory over Wisconsin in the BT Tournament Championship game. I don't think today's win will lift M above a 3 seed.
Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

So much for that idea. M is officially a 5 seed and will take on 12 seed UC San Diego. The selection committee is still at work but the South Region has been posted. See below

I just want to know if Michigan’s players were standing on the correct part of the court when they cut down the nets.

Yeah, we wouldn't want our players to besmirch any "traditions".

The committee did not like the BigTen.

Pink is KenPom that made the tourney.

I haven't been terribly invested in this Michigan basketball team, for various reasons. I certainly didn't expect them to win any sort of championship, so today's result was a pleasant surprise. I'm a bit perplexed that today's outcome didn't seem to matter at all with respect to NCAA tournament seeding-- Wisconsin and Michigan both ended up on the seed lines they were projected to yesterday. Michigan didn't get any favors in the draw, either-- if the Pomeroy ratings AA posted above are reasonably accurate, there isn't that much difference between this Michigan team and UC-San Diego, their first-round opponent. If the Michigan team that showed up for the Big Ten tournament shows up next week, they can make the Sweet Sixteen. If the team that showed up the last week or so of the regular season shows up for their first round game, they're going home early.

Lot of weird seeds this year. UNC getting in is an abomination. Louisville as an 8 is an insult.

Michigan went 4-1 against Wisconsin and Purdue, finished higher in the regular season standings and won their conference tourney. Yet Wiscy is a 3 and Purdue a 4. Michigan went 12-5 in Quad 1 games, 25-9 overall with a great weekend. Certainly could have been higher but whatever: Fantastic season regardless.

IMO, this is all part of the NCAA's punishment to Michigan as an institution. They don't like us, and we don't like them. They are not going to do us any favors. In any sport.

I'm sure there are many in the NCAA hierarchy who disapprove of Michigan's athletic department, and they have their reasons. Going only by the NCAA's NET rankings, though, Michigan would have been the second-to-last 6th seed, one spot ahead of Louisville(as Mike correctly notes, the Cardinals got hosed), while Wisconsin would have been a four and Purdue a 5. The committee at least liked the B1G better than that.

Some see it one way, some see it another.

I will never change my opinion of the NCAA in regards to how it treats Michigan.
