Yeah, it is. I don't think any B1G team can run the table in the tournament.

It looks like the eventual National Champion is going to come out of the (yuck) SEC.

I don't know that it is God awful, but I don't see anybody making a run in the tourney.

I've been watching a lot of basketball and it seems to me that there are a handful of really good teams, mostly in the SEC, and a bunch of pretty good teams.

The pretty good teams are going to knock off some of the really good teams, but it will all come down to the draw and match ups to see how far any of them can go.

I think M and MSU are in the pretty good team block

As always, the NCAA tourney will be the best sporting event of the year.

Michigan State Event staff personnel need to learn how to communicate special observances to the opposing team. This is the second time where sparty has attempted to shove Michigan players off the field, or in this case, the court, while they had some silly 'tradition' of kissing the floor.

The two Michigan players on the floor that were involved were freshmen. Everybody knows freshmen are stupid. They know absolutely nothing. They didn't know about sparty's floor kissing tradition. They were fully allowed to be on the floor, standing anywhere they choose. It was a free throw situation.

When sparty decided to take off their seniors, one of their goofy traditions is to kiss the floor as they leave. The two stupid M freshmen stood there and looked at what was going on and likely were thinking "what the f...." or some such thing. They're stupid. They don't know sparty's "traditions". So, of course, some big tough sparty comes out and confronts them and starts shoving them, causing a big uproar.

All that needed to be done to prevent all this was BEFORE the game, have an Event Staff person approach Coach May and say something like: "Hey coach, near the end of the game, win or lose, we're going to bring our seniors off the court. "When they come off, its a tradition to have them kiss the floor as they leave"... "Could you be sure that your players are off to the side when they do this?" I am 100% positive that Coach May would have had his guys come over and stand by him and allow sparty seniors to have their kissing session with the logo. Again, we're talking about freshmen. Stupid freshmen. And of course, Michigan's players are the villains in all this. Yeah right.

Communication. Just like when Dumbtonio linked arms and walked the field AFTER their on field time was expired, and Michigan players had taken the field to warm up. Communication.

And they call us 'little sister' .....

With all the brain trust at msu, you'd think they could come up with something more creative. But I guess that's as good as it gets in East Landfill. Real knee-slapping material.

            ---

And I have absolutely no doubt that Michigan's basketball team is going to check out in their first game in the B1G tourney, and they'll be very lucky to win Game One in the NCAA's. They're not a good team right now. They lost yesterday's game totally legit.

The tradition goes back 30 years and has been covered on CBS a lot. Dusty May is flat out lying when he said he didn't know about it. The refs told Coach May before hand and anyone who follows college basketball knows about the tradition. This is not some obscure tradition. It is one of the great traditions in sports. If Michigan did something similar at Chrysler, they should be allowed to do it. It's cool, it shows how much you love the university!

Get off the center of the court when you were never standing there before, the players looked foolish and the coach sounds even more foolish.

Not sure of how great a tradition it is outside of Lansing

I never heard of it before this game, but it's been 40 years since I lived in Michigan.

For the record, I got no dog in this fight but I thought the Michigan kids had no idea what was going on.

CBS carries the final home game for MSU a lot, Dusty May has been in attendance for a Senior Day at the Breslin as a coach for Indiana. The Big Ten network did a documentary for this amazing tradition. For May to play dumb is silly.

The two Michigan kids that were "guilty" of standing on the logo were both freshmen. As stated before, freshmen are stupid. This is a scientific fact. Someone needed to remind them before the game and it was the responsibility of MSU event staff to make sure that the Michigan contingent was aware of what was going to happen. A reminder, if you will. This obviously did not happen.

Two other msu seniors had already kissed the floor when the designated msu enforcer came over and attempted to shove the Michigan players off the logo.

FTR, this all happened during a free throw attempt. It was not a time out. Players can stand anywhere behind the ball during a free throw attempt, so by rule the M players were doing nothing wrong.

I still contend that if May had been advised by msu event staff that seniors were going to come off late in the game and kiss the floor, May would have kept his players away so that their floor love could proceed without incident. But once again, the msu event staff dropped the ball, just like they at spartan stadium a few years back.

When I was on the M Event Staff, we had designated personnel whose only job it was, was to accompany the visiting team and all who came with them, and show them where their locker room was, how to get to the field, AND advise them of any special events that were happening. I guess msu's event staff has never had that kind of training.

I watch a lot of college basketball and have done so for years. I've never heard of this.

Maybe Dusty May is full of shit but I would fathom to guess that outside of a very small footprint, most of the country has no idea of this tradition.

I have no problem with the MSU kid defending his turf. I understand, but by the same token, I don't think the M kids knew wtf was going on.

Maybe that is on May, but I'm not sure that if I am a coach it is my repsonsablity to honor another team's tradition.

I doubt that it is high on the pregame planning agenda.

"Let's go out there and kick their ass and don't forget to stay off the logo at the end of the game because their seniors are going to kiss the floor"

Seems kind of silly to me to expect that.

I bet if you asked 100 college sports fans across the country, you’d scarcely find anyone who knows about this tradition. Hell, Michigan hockey players kiss the center ice logo on senior night. They just do it AFTER the game.

But, yes, Michigan players minding their own business at center court during free throws in the waning moments of a lopsided game is some sort of egregious assault. The inflated sense of importance from MSU is nauseating. Nobody outside your fanbase gives two flying fucks about your school or it’s sports teams.

M got by Purdue last night by playing one of their best games of the season. They face Maryland next. The Terps embarrassed M at home about a week ago.

I doubt it. I don't think M can get past the Terps.

Sparty is probably going to win the title. And when they do, they'll kiss the floor.

I've heard that they're possibly taking that act on the road. For a certain amount of NIL pledged, the entire Sparty basketball team will come to your house and kiss your floors. Never miss out on a chance to make money .... and advance "tradition".
