    Oops ... Edit:

I assumed that MSU was going to defeat Indiana tonight, but they didn't.

SO... Michigan is in 1st place in the Big Ten all by themselves.

Michigan won a hard fought game in Columbus today 86-83 to hang on to first place in the B1G. Vlad Goldin had 20 points for Michigan and Danny Wolf had 11 rebounds.

Michigan is idle until next Friday when they will take on MSU at Crisler Center.

        Hanging on ....

We need to protect home court from Sparty.

            Remaining schedule after Sparty is:

            At Nebraska
            Rutgers
            Illinois
            Maryland
            @ MSU

            --

I've seen Michigan rated as high as a #4 seed so far. That could change in either direction.

Horrible, horrible performance tonight. No heart, no passion, they just allowed sparty to come in and chest-thump their way to a walk-over win. You can't choke away a game on your home court like that.

So disappointing to see the team steadily improve, only to play a 2nd half like they did on their home court.

This wasn't "Izzo out-coaching May". This was just uninspired play, and a lack of effort. Tonight they looked like a Brian Ellerbe team.

On to Nebraska. They better get it together.

Good win..The Spartans are the more athletic team and pretty good this year, definitely the best Spartan team since the COVID year. Richardson is starting to emerge as the star. It's good for the Spartans that Tom Izzo didn't have to outcoach Dusty May. If you need to outcoach another coach to win, it's a negative implication on the existing talent of the team. That's been an issue the last decade for the Spartans.

May will have that team ready to go in EL. How May took over that team and is competing for a Big Ten title is clearly one of the stories of the year

                  At Nebraska
                  Rutgers
                  Illinois
                  Maryland
                  @ MSU
Five games left. They can still salvage a top five finish in the conference. Nebraska is a trap game, but Rutgers and Illinois are very beatable. Maryland will be tough but Michigan has to put last night's stupidity in the past quickly. The game @msu is not winnable. If the guys can go 3-2 thru this stretch, I'd be fine with that.

IIRC, I believe a #4 seed in the B1G tournament gets them a first round bye. I guess that should be the goal now. And a NCAA berth is still a strong possibility. The 20 wins helps a lot.

                  ---

Congrats to Dusty May on signing a long term contract extension with Michigan. That finally closes the door and locks it on 'will he return to Indiana?" He's a doggone great recruiter, and he handled the portal well in his first season. He's still a bit shaky on game days, but I don't think Juwan Howard would be doing any better. In fact, if Juwan were still here, we wouldn't likely have 50% of the kids we have now. Finish the season strong, and have good showings in both tournaments. Build for next year.

No, that's not a halftime score. That's the final. Poor shooting by both teams, but M finds a way to eek out a valuable road win.

Back to Crisler Center for Rutgers, Illinois and Maryland. Then they'll finish with MSU in East Landfill.

After trailing by as many as 12 points in the 2nd half, Michigan pulls out a lucky win over Rutgers last night at Crisler, winning 84-82 on a last second triple by Nimari Burnett.

The win earns Michigan a first place tie with msu in the Big Ten standings.

Of course Sparty fans think their lucky shot had more skill than Michigan's lucky shot.

                          Michigan = still over achieving.

I couldn’t watch the game (because I won’t be extorted) but I kept tabs on my phone. Saw they were down 74-62 and figured that was that. Was stunned to see that we won.

                            Heres the shot. REJOICE!!

They look listless for most of the game. I didn't think that they would win.

My favorite part of this is the Rutgers player who is down on the block's reaction as he realizes that the ball is going to go in. Ha!
I feel like I am watching the destruction of our democracy while my neighbors and friends cheer it on

I saw that on the replay last night. That poor Rutgers guy had the perfect look at it, and he absolutely knew it was going in. LOL

Lucky win, ugly win, I don't care. Just win baby.
