Wow... just wow.
Old fashioned Bo Schembechler smash mouth football.
Great effort against another great team.
Refreshing to see a very classy USC team at the end. Lots of hugs and handshakes between both teams. If you like warrior style football, this was both teams today.
I was very wrong about this game. Still a lot of tough teams out there waiting for a shot at Michigan. Looks like we either run the ball or lose.
Today, this feels good.

27-24 is your final. A week after a dispiriting win, Michigan finds a way to pull the upset at home, and may have found an identity. The margin of error is going to be razor-thin this year, and Michigan will likely find itself on the wrong side of that margin again this year, but today, the Wolverines can be proud. Well, maybe not Wink Martindale, whose substitution patterns and blitz calls still leave a lot to be explained-- USC's second touchdown came on an unnecessary blitz, IIRC, and they got their go-ahead points on another 3rd and long, with none of Michigan's starting defensive linemen on the field. Martindale seems increasingly set in his ways, which is a ticket to getting destroyed by better opposition, especially when your offense is this one-dimensional. But I'll give him this much credit. On a day when Michigan had to have it, the pass rush finally showed up-- Josiah Stewart, in particular, may have had his best game in a Michigan uniform. Kalel Mullings was a beast, and the ground game in total was just good enough. Sherrone Moore has the first big win of his full-time tenure. The Iowa formula-- win on defense and special teams, try not to lose on offense-- may have to be the way forward this year. But it's a start.Last edited by JRB; September 21, 2024, 06:38 PM.

This team will lose, and it will happen when they meet an opponent who has a stout defense that can completely stuff the run. M will have no decent passing game, so that's the formula to beating them. There will be teams on the schedule that can do that.
But this does brighten things up just a tad from about a week ago.
And Edwards better find a way to secure the ball, or he may not see the field a lot, going forward. Mullings may just beat him out of the RB1 spot. He took a huge step today."in order to lead America you must love America"
