THIS... is the best QB available to Michigan?

I've come to the conclusion that one of two things is going on at Michigan.

      1. Sherrone Moore hates Jack Tuttle

      2. Jack Tuttle is much more seriously injured than M is letting on.

      --

There is no way that Davis Warren is THAT better than Jack Tuttle. Tuttle is the guy that some may remember led Indiana into an overtime game against Michigan when he was a sophomore. I remember thinking at the time that I was not happy that we'd have to face him two more times.

And he can't beat out Davis Warren?

      Come on now.

Michigan team 144 is a bad football program basking in the Celebrity of the 2023 NC. Interceptions, penalties, missed tackles, albeit improved in that regard, that is going to get hammered in conference play. Moore is making excuses for Warren's INTs. This is the typical new guy under center with all the handicaps that come with that ID. Live up to that reality.

The OL is still bad. FGS, this is Ast. The only reason the OL appears to be moving the line is that Ast. is undersized and underweight. M SHOULD BE blowing these buys off the ball but they aren't and Warren isn't getting the pass-pro he needs.

First possession of the 2nd half just as bad as the first half.
Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

Well, Moore finally pulled Warren - bout time although I get trying to get a QB to work through his first two INTs. He had two really ill conceived throws suggesting he's not seeing the field. I'm also seeing terrible downfield blocking that has foiled more than a few big plays, with Edwards going down after picking the right hole at the LOS only to get tackled after a decent gain but no home run - set for one.

Davis Warren turns out to be much closer to John O’Korn than my preseason biased hopes of Stetson Bennett.

Might as well play Orji. No clue what is going on with Tuttle’s medical situation. Tuttle actually looked decent in junk time last season as Michigan nuked opponents due to cheat codes.

What’s tricky about playing Orji is how defenses will sell out to stop the run. Crowd the line of scrimmage if they’re smart. At the same time, the threat of Orji as a runner brings a new element. I just hope he can do anything as a passer…

M's offense cannot just feature Orji, Mullins and Edwards and expect to be competitive for the BT crown. At this point winning the BT is a distant, unreachable goal.

M coaching staff egregiously dropped the ball on the QB and WR situation. Should have escalated it through the transfer portal.

Just imagine if M acquired Arizona’s QB and good WR. That’s what they needed…

Jake Butt sounds like a UM coach trying to coachsplain why they look so pathetic. I'm sure he's disappointed too.

28-18 is your final. Rarely has a two-score win felt more discouraging. Apart from the ground game, which looked genuinely improved even considering the opponent, Michigan didn't get better this week. The margin isn't nearly as concerning as the mistakes. Davis Warren's turnovers hurt the most, but the offensive line still isn't consistently hitting the right targets, and Colston Loveland's injury could cripple an already anemic passing game. The defense limited Arkansas State's points until garbage time, but with the offense's struggles, Michigan needs to be making havoc plays, forcing sacks and short fields, and they haven't shown much ability to do that yet.

So much of what's wrong is only going to get fixed with guys getting on-field reps, but it seems like the coaching staff needs the reps, too. Michigan didn't commit the kind of careless defensive penalties we saw today over the last three years. All in all, this was a concerning performance that didn't inspire much confidence for next week's game against USC.

This was a "win" for Michigan, but man, it was just a horrible, horrible, football game. Just awful. Probably the worst game I've seen them play since the 2020 season. From what we've seen so far, there is no legit QB. Tuttle hasn't played, and may never play again, for whatever the reason is. So there's no counting on him.

Mullings was the one bright spot, but USC will gang up on the line to stop any rushing attack. We're back to the days of "we dare you to pass" defenses against Michigan.

So if there's anything to glean from this game, maybe Moore can coach up Orji to lead the team to at least a minor bowl game. 6-6-looks like a challenge right now. Warren shouldn't be allowed back on the field unless Orji is injured. And again, Moore said this week that "Tuttle can play". Ok then, why didn't he at least get a few snaps today? Something else is going on there.

Arky gets a couple 4th quarter garbage TD's against M's subs, but it still does not delete the red flags on this team. Lots of problems, and good teams are going to have their way with them.

EDIT: Well, at least we aren't Florida State ...
