Michigan will score way more than 27. Wait for it. 😇

The Cheatin’ Huskers, guilty of various NCAA violations (2021-2022), looked good vs UTEP. Congrats to your team. Progress.

M getting beaten in the trenches.
Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

        Crippen to the rescue!
Boa constrictor takes effect in the 2nd half as usual IMO. Though JRB might be right about the offense so far.

Not a fan of NBC muting the Michigan band.

It's very hard to put together an offense with so many guys who haven't played much. Warren's decision-making has been slow, which is understandable given how few reps he's gotten. Giudice hasn't looked like the answer at C so far, and there's only so much an offensive line can do with a hole at center. Right now, 2024 Michigan looks a lot like 2023 Iowa.

M has 89y of total offense, 0 - 4 on 3rd downs. Analysts on Michigan Radio network were calling on OC Kirk Campbell to try something beside running Mullins into the middle. Fresno's S are very good. Their playing up but anything Campbell tried on the edges they were quick enough to get there to make tackles.

Certainly not what I expected from the offense. Defense is as expected. Held Fresno State to 97y.

I was pretty pessimistic about this offense and they have fallen miles short of my famously pessimistic expectations. Every single player except for maybe Loveland looks MAC caliber, at best. Our coaching staff has taken two years off from recruiting and it shows. I have been jumping up and down, frantically waving my arms and screaming at the top of my lungs raising the warning flags about our recruiting for about two years now and this is the reason why. Why everyone thought that discount Joe Milton and Nick Sheridan 2.0 were going to lead this offense to the promise land is beyond me. We have no receivers and no running backs. At least we;'ll be spared all of those retarded Orji puns from now on.

Edwards sucks absolutely massive amounts of dick. I don't know what the hell happened to him but I'd literally take Kevin Grady over him right now. The OL sucks. QB play is abysmal. WR talent is beyond nonexistent.

We have 89 yards of offense with six first downs in one half of play. I said all summer long that we should just start Davis and take out lumps and you are seeing exactly why I said that. Why bother redshiting the guy when you are just going to have to start him in game 1 next year anyways?

Iowa has a better offense this year. Looks like everyone does.

I think the defense can still be elite. Maybe not top five elite, but certainly in the top 10 of the country.

The offense looks like they're in trouble, although I think a healthy Jack Tuttle would be better than both of these QB's.

                    • Kicker U.
Can we call up this kicker to the big leagues for the Detroit Lions? No offense Jake Bates, but 3 made kicks in a row…

I don’t think it’s 2022-2023 Iowa offense bad, but certainly reminiscent of the dry spots during the Harbaugh era. Different areas on offense taking a turn messing up. QB, RB, WR, TE, OLine… play calling too maybe?

                      Defense looks incredible.

                      • 30-10 is your final, with a Will Johnson pick-six providing a deceptive final margin. I think that's how it's going to be this year-- the offense is going to have to scratch and claw to score 17 to 24 points, and the defense is going to have to make that stand up. There were fixable mistakes tonight, but there was a lot that doesn't figure to get much better this year. The offensive line might improve a tick, and Michigan figures to get an explosive play on occasion from Donovan Edwards, but the passing game...I think what we saw tonight is about it, at least for this season. It's going to be very difficult for this offense to engineer drives next week. They're going to need a few big plays and a lot of luck.

                        • Whoever is going to be The Guy at QB needs to be The Guy ASAP. They can't afford to waste practice time on running Army's offense if Warren is going to be the guy, and vice versa.

                          • A disappointing opening game performance with the defense contributing most of the points in what appears like a big win. It was nothing like that on the offensive side of the ball.

TBF to M's offensive shit-show, I watched a lot of games today. The big names all struggled on first half offense. The difference between those games and M's game was that the offenses took over in the 2nd half. M got bailed out with a sick pick six by Will Johnson. WIthout that, the Fresno State team, moving the ball for a late TD would have threatened an upset.

Keene was the star of the game with the overall Fresno State defense getting a game ball. Remains to be seen but Mikey Keene may be among the best QB's M's defense will face.

There appeared to be some half-time adjustments to the OL blocking that unlocked Mullings. Edwards disappointed. I'm not going to do a deep dive into the stats. I'll let the UFRs at Mgo do that. Suffice it to say it's a win but a shaky start on offense for a 2024 campaign that is looking for a spot in the CFP, let alone a team that can grab a spot in the CFP final four.

                              • I think any defensive problems shown tonight can be fixed. I'm not really worried about the defense.

Offensively, there are lots of red flags. This is definitely not Team 144. This is Team 145, and they're going to be different than their predecessors.

Neither Davis Warren or Alex Orgi will get this team into the playoffs. Unless Jack Tuttle can heal up, and come back, this team is going to struggle like it did with John O'Korn. Fresno successfully packed the TnT area, and Edwards was their focus. They took away the middle, and Michigan had no answer in the passing game, with the exception of Loveland. Texas will take him away next week. So there's a lot of work to do.

Tonight we saw just how good last year's team was. We've been spoiled a bit by the last 3 years. Unless M can hit the transfer portal this coming off season, they're going to struggle for the next 2-3 years.

Right now, I'd make Texas about an 8-10 point favorite.
