  • If Harbaugh is going to leave, then he needs to do it yesterday so that we can back to the business of recruiting. The past 12 months have been a disaster in that department. it's too late to shore up the '24 class but we might be able to salvage 2025. I have my questions about Moore's ability to run a program long term, but I expect him to be a pretty good recruiter.

    • The 2023 class was not great, either. And, honestly, there isn't much indication that 2025 will be much different than the 15ish stuff they've been getting.

That's passable playing a god-awful OoC and only 2 meaningful conference games. That's not going to work going forward with a legitimate OoC game a deeper conference.

Moore will have to recruit well.

But, again, that 2023 season will keep you boys warm for a long, long time.

      • You got that right! I might to take out a home equity loan to pay for all the swag I'm buying.

        • If you're taking out a home equity loan in the Flint area, you could turn around and buy all the swag you want, PLUS a whole BLOCK of houses ...

          • I still don't think Michigan is going to drop to the bottom of the conference in '24.

We will have an 18 team conference. I think Michigan finishes no worse than 5th or 6th.

Its not going to be a free-fall to the bottom like 2008. There's a good core of guys coming back on defense, that should keep M competitive.

Although the playoffs could likely take as many as 3-4 Big Ten teams, I doubt that Michigan will get into that group.

(Too early projection: Ohio State, Oregon, USC, maybe Penn State, (but Franklin could under coach his talent again)

            • They have enough on defense to win 9. Washington falling off a ledge helps. I'd pick Ohio State and Oregon as the top 2, and then USC, M and Penn State in the next group.

I really don't know what they're gonna do on offense. I mean, even if Tuttle gets his 17th season, that doesn't seem like much of solution. Then again, DeBoer just rode a transfer IU QB to the title game and, ultimately, the UAT job. So, who knows?

If they don't have Tuttle then they're in a ton of trouble offensively with what they have.

And we're not even getting into what the staff will look like and if they retain all their players if the staff turns over. Assuming HARBAUGH******* completely shocks everyone and stays, then they still have gads of issues on offense, but they should have much of the same staff and all of their players.

The question is how long it takes to right the ship in terms of roster talent. In this day and age, it can be done expeditiously. Whether M can do it expeditiously is a separate question.

              • Tuttle is on the wrong side of the NCAA right now, if he thinks they're going to let him have another year at Michigan. They're all about punishing Michigan, not giving them an experienced QB for a 7th year. I'll be shocked if they allow it.

That being said, if by some stroke of sanity the NCAA allows Tuttle to play, it would at least give M a QB with real game experience. How that experience gets turned into wins, I have no clue. But it still should be better than handing the job to any 2nd year guys or the new guy coming in. Its a roll of the dice.

I've given up all hope of Harbaugh returning. I just wish he'd stop with the nonsense, and make it official. If you love your school as much as you say you do, then make the decision final. Move on, and get on to California. Thank you for 2021- 2023. And actually, thanks for all of it from 2015 til now.

If Moore is the successor, he's going to need as much time as possible to assemble his staff. Will the Harbaugh's encourage some NFL assistants to join Moore at Michigan like they did with Minter and McDonald? I dunno. If they're going to decimate Michigan's coaching staff, and they truly love Michigan, it seems like they'd do everything possible to make the impact as minimal as possible. But business is business. Maybe Jim feels more like flipping the bird, than giving Michigan a hand.

I'd take 5th place in the conference in '24 right now, and be satisfied. Especially if M can make some of the elites sweat along the way.

Yes, its aggravating but is also understandable. For Harbaugh, he's not going to sign any contracts with an NFL team or with M until after February 15th. His current contract lowers the buy-out to 1.5 million after the 15th. Its a business decision. I'm reading that Steven Ross has had something to do with a new offer that bumps Harbaugh's annual compensation to make him THE highest paid coach in CFB at a CFB record setting salary. That's nice but I've heard nothing further on the U's position on immunity.

There is a bit of a twist here that I've failed to appreciate. "Immunity" that JH is asking for is related to preventing the U from terminating him for cause related to said NCAA or conference punishment. Termination, not suspension. He can still be suspended for rules violations adjudicated according to the NCAA and conference rule books. The NCAA can still levy punishments such as post season bans and reductions in scholarships for rule breaking. Harbaugh has reportedly asked that intent to terminate him from his HC job at M cannot be a unilateral decision and such termination will be subject to review and arbitration by a panel that would be set up to do that. JH isn't asking for blanket immunity from rule breaking.
Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

IF you are doing NIL the way OSU is doing it. Reports are that Ohio has spent $ 20 million in the transfer portal.

Harbaugh got UM back on track by doing things the old UM way. That is, running the ball and good defense

Ohio is now going back to the old, proven, Ohio way of paying players enormous amounts to buy a team. Tried and true,

                    • If the current buy-out is $ 1.5 million more than it will be on 2-15-24, then UM should just accept the post-2/15 buyout amount and get on with the transfer. It is crazy that we have to wait 3 more weeks. Like Hanni says, we need to get on the stick and acquire talent, and delay works against UM.

LMAO. You’re not even fucking close. The vast majority of the well-under $20M OSU spent was on player retention.

M added 9 portal players last year. OSU is at 6 this year. Guess you hate the quality.

His point point is simply that OSU is putting 10 figures into their roster this off season.

The number I’ve heard repeatedly is $13M (so far). Haven’t heard anything about $20M.
