Woke up first thing I thought Michigan is the National Champions!! And I lived to see it! Don't care if the haters are having a bad day, nothing you can do will take it away from team 144 and Harbaugh.
and love this no matter how much of a clown he is

The game went largely in the style that I expected, but with more stops for us on defense. I figured that UDub would be able to score in the low 20s, and I guess they would have made it there if Pennix hadn't missed Odunze on that wide open throw. I said going into this game that I liked our matchup against the Huskies. We're a defense built specifically to bleed a potent passing game down the field and force them to kick field goals.
Some mistakes on both sides, but still a really well played game, and more exciting and more in doubt than the final score indicates. Washington's pass defenders made some incredible plays to keep them in the game in the 2nd quarter. The fourth down pass breakup of the pass to Wilson was a thing of beauty if you're a Huskies' fan. Our DBs seemed more overmatched, but we were able to get enough pressure on Pennix to make up for it, and Washington's running game couldn't get loose. The game was ultimately won in the trenches though -- big time. The O line had their best game of the year, probably by far, and it couldn't have come at a better time.
This year was a very special team. I know that it's special because after the shitty ending of the first half, I didn't feel the usual tendency for gloom and doom that I would be feeling if we let a couple of chances to go up 24-3 slip away. I knew that the team wouldn't fold. Lose still? Maybe. But not drop a great big second half dookie, and they didn't.
I didn't expect to win another national championship in my lifetime. I figured making the playoffs with an occasional appearance getting beaten down by an SEC team in the NT game was the best that we could hope for. Which is actually not too bad. But we have now done what nobody with a comparative recruiting disadvantage has done for a long time -- win it all.
The turnaround for this team since 2020 is quite incredible. Since that debacle, we are 40-3. Only Georgia has been better.
The talent will be dropping off next year but we now have not just something to tide us over for some lean years, but a bucket list item crossed off. We got to see our Wolverines win an undisputed natty. Our recent uptick still doesn't feel permanent, but at least we got to see us hit our ceiling and that counts for a lot.

For the first time of the Harbaugh era, the officials were very kind to Michigan this year. They missed a very blatant hold on Orji's first run. Our guys got held a bit too, but not as bad. But there was a horrendous call on Washington's right tackle that cost UDub dearly. The non-PI call where the Washington WR stumbled off the line looked pretty blatant at full speed, but on replay, it looks like the right call. I have refrained on commenting all year, but there's no sense in keeping quiet about it now. Harbaugh has gotten massively screwed over by the refs repeatedly since he took over our program, but there was some makeup this year.Last edited by Hannibal; January 9, 2024, 02:58 PM.
