Texas playing in it will change that calculus but, yes, gotta be cheaper than going to SoCal.

No ...... talk to Optimus Prime.
Doug and I - the four of us including wives, planned to go to the Citrus Bowl v. FL (Carr's last game as M HC). I was in charge of finding a hotel. I found a cheapy that was actually very close to the field. That's cool I thought. Little did I know the part of town the place was in was none to savory. Doug and Terry arrived first and he called me and said, bad neighborhood and thin walls. We need to move.
At the tailgate that Optimus Prime arranged and bought supplies for, then attended with us, he told us he'd fixed us up with rooms. Ritz Carlton! When we went to check out on Sunday, he'd paid for the rooms to the toon of around $800 each room! OP was very generous - I have several more stories of his generosity during our friendship.
It's really too bad he's not around. Linesman will remember he ditched me when Liney wanted to stop being the forum owner and passed it to me. OP thought that I'd screwed Liney. Despite our protestations that it was nothing like that he never talked to either of us again.
Anyway, as I said, I'm backing away from CFB, at least I'm not going to let it occupy my entire life during football season like it has in the past. i.e., game day is a priority over all else. After that the following Sunday is also reserved for scouring football news and posting on the forum and that usually extended to Monday and Tuesday.
Ann and I will actually be on a cruise that departs on January 8th. If M is in the NC game, and the odds say it will be, It will be on the ship's TV. I've watched two M football games while cruising. The only issue would be some contractual thing between FOX and Celebrity Cruises that might prevent the cruise line from beaming that broadcast via satellite aboard.Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

I have my own stories of him. I am good at arguing my point when I choose and I often (or used to) enjoy poking people with verbal pointy sticks while doing so. I haven’t always been the affable, happy-go-lucky, friend-to-all I am here and I’m sure I carried things too far in some never-ending victory lap.
Anyway, I was giving him the business during some drawn out argument and he took offense at getting the worst of our dust-up and threatened to doxx me to the AHA by PM. He never clarified if he meant the American Heart Association or the American Hospital Association (I assume the latter). I still laugh over it. I don’t think he’d buy me a ticket and I’m okay with it.
Missing out on his generosity aside, I thought of going, but I don’t like LA and if we win, I don’t like Houston. Would rather watch at home, honestly.

The Alabama that played Georgia, Ole Miss, Tennessee, and LSU will win.
The Alabama that played Auburn, USF, Texas, and Arkansas will lose.
Which team we see is anyone’s guess."The problem with quotes on the Internet is that it is sometimes hard to verify their authenticity." -Abraham Lincoln
