I still say that if any punishment comes from the NCAA it will focus on Harbaugh's 'hamburger-gate-refusal-to-confess", more than any sign stealing thing.
The NCAA supposedly has evidence that Harbaugh 'lied' regarding the off-season recruiting visits. They have no such evidence (admitted by the NCAA) directly connecting him to the 'spy' matter.
And he's already been suspended for a half a season, which is what the NCAA wanted to begin with.
Those who are breathlessly waiting for the NCAA to smash Michigan are going to be disappointed."The stockings were hung by the chimney with care, .. I'd worn them for weeks, and they needed the air"

And sign-stealing is not illegal.
And every team does it, even though in here, its anathema to say that.
Directly making video of a team's sideline to steal signs violates an archaic rule that everyone basically ignored until 2023. "Everyone" was aware of Michigan's propensity to 'steal' signs for years, but didn't start making a stink about it until 2023.
I guess it wasn't a problem until then.
ESPN, and Fox Sports steal signs under the definition of that rule, every time they run a sky-cam, or launch a camera drone..
Coaches hide their mouths nowadays because opponents have lip-readers in the box, with binoculars, watching the coaches, relaying what the coaches are saying. Isn't that stealing signs? Yes, it is, and all teams do it. oops .. anathema .."The stockings were hung by the chimney with care, .. I'd worn them for weeks, and they needed the air"

I won't cough up for subscriptions to the large number of pay-sites covering NCAA CFB and M in particular. So, I was surprised to learn from a free article at Wolverine Wire that M has the advanced analytics edge over UAT in all of them that are out there. While I think most of us agree that, even though some claim to be predictive, they don't have a much better record doing that than a coin flip. M has, according to predictive analysis, a 54.2% chance of beating UAT.
The thing that bothers me about M is Harbaugh's abysmal bowl record. He did show he can change things up. 3y ago he did that and has dominated the BIG since then but it has not carried over to the CFP. Embarrassing losses to UGA in 22 and TCU in 23 headline that trend. In those two games, UGA was just way better but M looked bad. M looked unprepared for TCU and came out disinterested until interest returned late, but too late.
It remains to be seen whether M shows up prepared and motivated to move one step closer to their avowed NC goal. We'll know early in the game.
