Walters runs an unusual 5 man front with C1-man to back it up. Purdue frequently dropped LBs into zone coverage but retained upfront pressure harassing JJ with two NFL level DEs. Mani Diaz, PSU's DC, has equivalent talent at TE. He doesn't run a 5 man DL but he does blitz a lot from disguised players. I'm expecting the same result from PSU that Purdue got.

Despite the above M still scored 41 points. That's not going to happen in HV. The game is going to be decided by high variance events, e.g., turnovers. Unfortunately, the turnover margin for PSU is #1 nationally (M is 6th). PSU's LBs are speedy types that can deny completions underneath and are backed up by more than serviceable DBs. M's decided talent advantage is going to be neutralized v. PSU. M has the advantage of the better QB play and passing game - I doubt they will play to slow the game down and shorten it. I would not be surprised if M threw the ball more than 60% of the time and work to run a fast pace, quick scoring offense v. a PSU offense that can't keep up.

    M 34, PSU 23

Things that will make me look stupid:

    PSU wins the turnover battle.

Drew Allar actually has a big play capacity.

M has a targets to catches ratio in the area of 3:1 (JJ's completion rate is under 65%)
Jeff, please explain what the targets to catches ratio represents?

Just another way to display a QB's number of passing attempts v. completions. For example if JJ throws to Loveland 3 times and only completes 1, that's a 3:1 ratio or a pass completion rate of 33%. It's a good way to look at individual receivers as opposed to a QB's pass completion percentage during an entire game.

Team buses have arrived at the stadium without Harbaugh.

JJ has been shown walking the field.

I will never, ever again, defend the Big Ten.

        Never.

I know I'm not a fleck of pig turd when it comes to whether the Big Ten cares or not, .. but I'm absolutely done with them

When HARBAUGH**** gets the word from Washtenaw he's back in, he's gonna skydive into Beaver Stadium right before kickoff and inspire a 59-7 shellacking. It's going to superman shit.

(I expect he's in a car immediately outside the stadium awaiting the news he can coach...for now)
Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?
          Brady Hoke: You know.....not....good.

He's not going to be allowed to coach today. The Michigan judge decided not to rule today, and scheduled a meeting for the parties for Friday. Yes, that's the Friday before they're supposed to go to Maryland. The Michigan judge believes that the rules for justice need to be followed. Unlike the Big Ten. So glee is now spreading throughout college football.

As for today's "game", there is no way Michigan wins this game today. PSU will shut down Michigan's run, which is something that nearly every M opponent has done this year. PSU will put max pressure on JJ, and will probably rattle him enough to make bad throws at the wrong times. Oh yes, and there's no way Michigan gets a fairly officiated game. Not for the remainder of the season. Any time an opportunity comes to drop a flag on Michigan, it will fly. Guaran-fricking-teed. No holding onto flags (That's a good no-call there, Gus!) for Michigan today.

Joy is spread throughout college football as Pedo becomes the darling of the day.

Sherrone Moore to be the HC today. A win today might make Moore a supernova HC candidate.

It would really be nice if the Michigan fans here had JUST ONE THREAD where we can talk about this without being sniped by opposing fans.

But, I guess that's asking too much.

Meanwhile, the fat man finally speaks.

I'm pessimistic about this one. Setting aside the Harbaugh matter, this might be a bad matchup for Michigan. Michigan's issues at OT, and the declining running game(Michigan's YPC have declined each of the last three weeks) have not cost Michigan yet, but this Penn State's defense can make Michigan pay for these deficiencies. Now, add the coaching dysfunction back to the mix, and make it a road game in Happy Valley, where Michigan needed every play two years ago to win, and this figures to be a bumpy afternoon.

Warde Maual takes a strong stand against what the B10 did:

“Yesterday, under the guise of the NCAA Rule regarding Head Coach Responsibility the Big Ten decided to penalize Coach Harbaugh without knowing all the facts, and I find that completely unethical, insulting to a well-established process within the NCAA, and an assault on the rights of everyone (especially in the Big Ten) to be judged by a fair and complete investigation. Not liking someone or another university or believing without any evidence that they knew or saying someone should have known without an investigation is not grounds to remove someone from their position before the NCAA process has reached a conclusion through a full NCAA investigative process.

                      Here's a link to Warde's entire statement: https://wolverineswire.usatoday.com/...in%20the%20Big

RT has been beat badly on both 3rd down attempts, that can't keep happening.

Yeah, RT Karsen Barnhart #52. He’s had 3 awful whiffs on the first two possessions.

That was a big deal not giving up the TD right there. I still don't know how that was not running into the kicker on that punt though.

PSU had 2nd & 1 at the M 4 yardline. Huge hold to a FG on possession all things considered!

Now the question is if Barnhart can stop egregiously killing possessions for the M offense…
