  • If that’s a hold, then there should have been a few flags on M too. I recall PSU being upset about a Corn Johnson WR perimeter block and a missed illegal block in the back on a punt return.

Ultimately, I don’t think the refs played a big part in this game. M simply suffocated the life out of PSU. That needed to be the plan after Karsen Barnhart couldn’t block Chop Robinson.

Yeah Minter did not have a good first half at all.

        • “Five Men in the Box” is a pretty easy signal to decipher and check into a running play.

          • Well, he's grabbing him inside his shoulder pads, and tossing him to the ground, as the ball goes by. I've seen that called a hold many times.

But, as I said, it didn't affect the outcome of the game, so I guess it doesn't matter. I thought it was a hold in live time.

              • Yeah, I'm not good enough at butt-kissing to get into that. Or, at least I didn't kiss the correct butts.

I did semi-pro for about 3 years, and that was enough for me.

                  • Well, yeah.

But I'm sure you sprayed the area well with Lysol before proceeding.

I mean, I would expect nothing less from you.

                      • The UFR for the Penn State game is up. Brian hit Minter pretty hard with a -7 RPS rating. I expected the linebackers to grade out worse than they did.

                        • That's Seth's UFR Defense, Not Brian.

I'd have to go play by play and that's drudgery reading but I suspect most of the 17 RPS negs came in the first half and until M thought they had sufficiently shortened the game and had it in hand late third. At that point Minter got more aggressive with C-0 and no S deep.

Minter ran a light box with 3 DT and a couple of LBs to start the game inviting the run to make sure the PSU passing game was thwarted. Wth things in hand, he went back to 5 guys hands in the dirt. Runs got stuffed.

Franklin considers himself an Offense savant and Seth had to use new nomenclature to ID the offense's formations. IMO, I think Minter started off thinking Allar was going to have the game of his life. Clearly he did but not in a good way. Once it became clear that PSU wasn't going to move the chains on the regular, he increased the strangulation.
Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.
