  • M should garner some #1 votes in Sundays polls. Best road game performance v a conference team. Dominating.
Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

    • No penalties. No turnovers. I’ll take the blame for ruining the shutout for telling a Nebraska fan “ good luck with that” when she said that she hoped that the Huskers didn’t get shut out. Temps reached 96F at the stadium, but low humidity, breeze and late afternoon shade didn’t make it seem bad.

I must say that Nebraska fans are, hands down, the classiest in the conference. Knowledgeable and appreciative of the game. Genuine midwestern experience here.

      • Its on my bucket list to go to a game there. I'm going to make a special effort to go next time M plays there.

        • Congrats guys. You should be #1. You are better than I even thought and we are not as good on defense as I'd hoped. I thought the 3-3-5 would be susceptible to smash mouth and it was big time. We have zero playmakers on offense. Zero. Gonna be a long season. 5 wins was my prediction and even that will be tough. We are no where near your level in any phase of the game. Good luck the rest of the way and I'll be pulling for you to win it all.

Well on to Bert this Friday. Yay.
          Shut the fuck up Donny!

That would be a fun game from a historic perspective even better if it was in late October. One of these days will attend a game at the Big House. Would love to bring my dad too.

Harbaugh takes a lot of ribbing about his personality quirks and his flirtations with the NFL, but the guy can build teams, and he can coach. And he's finally surrounded himself with excellent coaches who love the game, and teach the game very well. We're going to lose at least 2-3 of those assistants after the season, and maybe even Harbaugh himself, if the NCAA continues its stupidity.

But Michigan has finally developed into a solid football team. All the pieces are in place, and with some luck and solid play at the right times, they should be in the mix for a NCAA championship at the end of it all. Georgia is vulnerable, but there are a lot more really good teams out there. Michigan will need to help itself, and get help from some others via upsets in order to be in the final four. Still a lot of football to be played, and November looms large. PSU and Maryland are in a position to screw Michigan royally.

I sincerely mean this, Wiz. To me, its not right that Nebraska is struggling, and Penn State is thriving. Those two should be switched. PSU doesn't deserve anything good, IMO. With the way they let Paterno get away with keeping Sandusky around, they don't deserve anything good. But yet, here they are, skipping along as though nothing ever happened. Its not right.

I hope Nebraska has found its guy, and that he can get the people in place to return to being a dominant football team again. You folks deserve it.

                    • Watched some Nebraska podcasts and they seem more like they had slim hopes of an upset, but still why was Nebraska so flat all game? And they 'hope' Rhule can rebuild from the ground up, it's going to take a while after what shape Scott Frost left the program in. That was more like the Michigan team we all were hearing about, the defense while Nebraska sucked was fantastic.

                      • Didn't Rich Rod teams run the 3-3-5. It was an equal opportunity defense. Running and throwing. Just march, march, march. Teams would go down the field at will.

                        • It is built to neuter spread offenses. It is susceptible to smash mouth unless you have a stud DL and a couple stud LB's.

                          • From 10K feet, Rhule is going to struggle for a few years and face criticism. But he's got the resume to support his ability to rebuild a football team. Nebraska fans should be patient as Rhule follows a trajectory similar to M's rebuild under Harbaugh. Accordingly, it's going to take a while.

Subject change: I don't think I've seen a Michigan road game performance as dominating and assured as this one was. I voiced concerns about Harbaugh's road game performances being tentative and that he'd follow his pattern of trying to club baby seals while letting a team with less talent hang around and get a few big plays to make 4th quarters nail biters. Michigan's approach to this game was opposite Nebraska's in that while Rhule played within his team's capability, Harbaugh came out firing. How many times have M fans watched M's obviously scripted first possession flame out ending in a punt. TBH, the game was over, or at least it's character defined, 8 minutes into the first quarter. with the score 14-0.

The keys to the differences are (1) Harbaugh has, as he characterized it, a "generational QB" that, considering modern styles of offense, has more skills at his disposal than any Michigan QB I've seen in my lifetime. (2) Michigan may have the best set of coordinators with championship level chemistry, since 1997. That year, Carr had the right mix, including Jim Hermann, who was good that year because of Charles Woodson, but not later. There was also something that clicked that season between Brian Gresie and Mike Debord as the QB/OC. While he was long retired, Jerry Hanlon still prowled the sidelines having instilled the importance of the OL to winning football.

On to Minnesota where game time temps will be 40 degrees lower than they were in Lincoln (51) - perfect football wx. The team will be confident, hopefully not overly so.

                              • Nebraska does have the best fan base and they are rational and good people. They also have top facilities and a history that includes actual hardware and not nebulous visions of grandeur (Iowa). They really deserve better than what they've gotten since that loony coach that won 9 games every year wasn't good enough for them, apparently.

I browse Nebby forums from time to time and they seem to have a chip on their shoulder about their own legacy and being in the B1G. Most believe it was a mistake to join and wish they could recapture the good ole days of dominating a division without the grinding defensive minded teams every week of the big ten or other excuses. I mean they seem to have never fit in with this conference.
