On the whole, I'm OK with this performance so far. Michigan's gotten a couple of breaks from the refs, to be sure. The running game has been less than impressive, though the field position didn't help on the first drive. My biggest concern right now remains the edge pass rush-- there hasn't been much, and this isn't a great offensive line they're going up against. Michigan's got to find somebody that can win one-on-one battles against offensive tackles.

How do you ask McCarthy to play better than he did in the first half? (rhetorical question)
16/18 for 181 yards, no sacks, no INTS
Loveland and Wilson.... look out
Only thing I can gripe about would be that the DL doesn't seem to be getting much pressure in passing downs. Their QB has squeeked away in a couple situations.
Other than that, they're fine.Last edited by lineygoblue; September 2, 2023, 12:46 PM."in order to lead America you must love America"

The team announced one additional assistant coach for today's game. He's a member of the Harbaugh family, and a cousin to John and Jim Harbaugh.
Folks, meet Henry Harbaugh... who will be the "get back" coach at today's game.

The question in the opener is will Kirk Campbell, the OC with Moore sitting this one out along with JH, be greenlighted to optimize his weapons setting the tone for the 2023 offense?
Will play-action and real (not fake) read-option be featured in this game as a prelude to an identity of M's 2023 offense? Or will Harbaugh continue to prefer, in signature fashion, bludgeoning opponents with Corum and Edwards featured in a strongly run oriented offense?
Other interesting things to watch are M's Stanford transfer at C and the edge rushers on defense.?
Edge rushers? Nothing stood out to me good or bad but the 4 man rush produced plenty of pressure. Disciplined also demonstrated by rushing yards inside. QB sneaks not withstanding.
Importantly, what will M's red zone offense look like. In 2022,
Finally ST. M's two best kickers went to the NFL. Worth watching v. ECU although.
A very acceptable first half for answering the pre-game question I posedLast edited by Jeff Buchanan; September 2, 2023, 01:05 PM.Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

Last year's OL was great though.
Pass blocking has been very good but run blocking for some reason is not good at all today. Worst run blocking performance by the OL since at least 2020 and I'm thinking maybe since the 2019 Army game..
